Inn Way to the North York Moors

Enjoy exploring this beautiful part of the world on foot on this circular walk through the North York Moors which starts and finishes in the attractive Yorkshire town of Helmsley.

Leaving the attractive market town of Helmsley behind you, it is not long before you are experiencing the wonderful peace and solitude of the North York Moors. Walk through the wooded Kirkdale Valley and discover unspoilt villages such as Fadmoor and Gillamoor before reaching your first overnight stop of the picturesque Hutton-le-Hole. Carry on to Levisham, taking in expansive views across the Moors from the fascinating Cawthorn Roman Camps along the way as well as a visit to the quaint Levisham Station with its traditional steam trains. Striking open swathes of heather moorland await you as well as stops in pretty villages such as Goathland and Egton Bridge as well as some wonderful exposed walking in the high moors between Esk Dale and Rosedale. A walk through the ‘valley of daffodils’ and an exhilarating walk up the Hambleton Hills will bring you back to Helmsley for one last night in this beautiful part of the country .

This walking route is based upon Mark Reid's walking guidebook 'Inn Way...to the North York Moors'.

Highlights:

  • Escaping to solitude and peace of open moorlands.
  • Discovering fascinating relics from the Bronze and Iron Age.
  • Pretty unspoilt villages such as Hutton-le-Hole and Lealhom.
  • Walking through the lush sweeping valleys of the North York Moors.
