Walking on Islay and Jura

These most southerly of the Hebridean Islands are easily accessible from the mainland though worlds away in terms of landscape, wildlife and tranquillity. The mixture of dramatic coastline, moorland and mountains serve to provide habitats for a myriad of scarce and local wildlife ranging from dolphins, whales and sharks through to spectacular birds. Coupled with some of the world’s finest malt whiskies you have the ingredients for a more than heart warming trip.

The trip comprises 3 nights on Islay and 2 nights on Jura to allow you to get the best out of the Islands. There is no set itinerary, you may choose where and when you walk, but we provide you with options and detailed route notes. We strongly recommend the use of a car as island public transport is infrequent

Highlights:

  • The magnificent wildlife: golden eagle, bottle nosed dolphin, basking shark.
  • The high quality yet homely opulence of the hotels.
  • The wide sands and rolling surf of the west coast.
  • Peace and tranquillity in this less travelled area of Scotland.
