Peddars Way

The Peddars Way National Trail starts in the charming town of Thetford in Norfolk. A town surrounded by Thetford forest, a great place to see a rich variety of animal and plant life. The trail follows the route of an old Roman Road along rolling farmlands and wide open spaces until it reaches the sea at Holme-next-the-Sea on the north Norfolk coast.

Much of the forty six mile route passes through the Brecks, a unique area of forest, heath and low river valleys. The gentle nature of the terrain make this an excellent choice of National Trail for those tackling their first long distance walk or prefer walking at a more relaxed pace.

Walking along the Peddars Way you soon become aware that many people have trodden the same path, whether they be Stone Age hunters, Roman soldiers, Saxon settlers or Medieval pilgrims. The Norfolk Songline is a visual, sung and spoken record inspired by the five permanent sculptures by Tom Perkins, which act as way markers along the way.

The route is punctuated by charming villages, often featuring beautiful Norman churches at their centre. Our walking holidays on the Peddars Way include hand picked B&B, guest house and small hotel accommodation in each village along the way, daily door to door baggage transfer, detailed maps and guidebooks and emergency telephone support. So you can just relax and enjoy the trail.

Highlights:

  • Experience the Norfolk Songline
  • The viewpoints across the sea at Holme_Next-The-Sea
  • Wild flowers and wildlife that dominate the trail
  • Discover the Thetford Forrest
  • Roman history along the way
