Ben Nevis - Climate
Probably the most common question we are asked is "What will the weather
be like?". Well, on the west coast of Scotland the weather is certainly
a talking point and as I like to say "If you don't like the weather
wait 10 minutes."
We have a maritime climate and a substantial
amount of rain which gives us wonderful green glens, tumbling
waterfalls and huge lochs. Ben Nevis can be walked
in summer conditions between April and the end of September.
You should still bear in mind that the temperature on the summit
is on average 9 degrees colder than in Fort William and the
weather can be atrocious at any time of year.
Between October and April Ben Nevis is no place
for the novice, the summit is generally covered in a thick
layer of snow, visibility can be very poor and the weather
changes in minutes. Perfect conditions to join our Winter Ben
Nevis Adventure.
