Coast to Coast Walk Travel Information
Because the Coast to Coast is a linear walk transport has always been a little difficult which is why we have included transfers from Kirkby Stephen and to Darlington (Kirkby Stephen - £60 extra) as part of your package, which
makes your transport arrangements very simple.

CTC West (Lake District):
By Car:
Day 1: Drive to Kirkby Stephen and park car (£2 per day).
Day 2-7: 8:00am Minibus transfer from Kirkby Stephen to St Bees to arrive by 10:00am with plenty of time to complete the days walk.
Day 8: Pickup your car after a good nights sleep in Kirkby Stephen and drive home.

By Rail:
Day 1:
Train to Kirkby Stephen and overnight.
Day 2-7: 8:00am Minibus transfer from Kirkby Stephen to St Bees to arrive by 10:00am with plenty of time to complete the days walk.
Day 8: Train home.

CTC East: (Yorkshire)
By Car:
Day 1:
Drive to Kirkby Stephen and park car (£2 per day).
Day 2 - 8: Start walk from Kirkby Stephen to Robin Hood's Bay.
Day 9: Taxi transfer from Robin Hood's Bay to Kirkby Stephen (£60 Supplement).

By Rail:
Day 1: Train to Kirkby Stephen and overnight.
Day 2 - 8: Start walk from Kirkby Stephen to Robin Hood's Bay.
Day 9: 10:00am Taxi transfer from Robin Hood's Bay to Darlington & train home.

Getting to Kirkby Stephen
Kirkby Stepehn is accessible by both train and bus and has parking available.

By Air
Manchester is the closest major airport to Kirkby Stephen however many overseas travellers prefer to fly into London. It is 4 hours from London by train and Manchester is just 2 and a half. Manchester airport has good connections to all European destinations as well as North America. However you can fly into Leeds airport for more flight options or travel from London if you prefer.

By Rail
You can of course travel by train from Europe and all UK destinations check out www.eurostar.com for details on trains from the continent.

If you are coming from London change at Leeds onto the Carlisle line.

By Road
You can of course drive to Kirkby Stephen. Multimap (http://www.multimap.com) has a journey planner which is useful for planning car journeys.

Car parking is available in Kirkby Stephen for a charge of £2 per day which is paid locally. Details in tour information pack.

Journey Planning
The single most useful resource for planning your journey in the UK using public transport is National Rail Enquiers. You simply enter your starting point and destination and all the options are presented to you.

Travel along the walk:
Due to illness, injury or inclement weather you may wish to skip sections of the walk (hopefully not). The easiest way to do this is by using public bus, alternatively your hosts will be able to supply a local taxi number or call Traveline 0870 608 2 608 for local transport information. Local tourist information centres will also be able to help with transport information and you can always call us in the office.


Getting from Robin Hoods Bay
A taxi transfer to Darlington (on the main east coast rail line) is included. If you require a taxi transfer back to Kirkby Stephen there is a £60 per group supplement.
