The Kintyre Way

89 Miles (142km), 5-7 Days

Tarbert - Dunaverty

Grade: Moderate

The Kintyre Way
The remote Kintyre peninsula on the West Coast of Scotland is an undiscovered gem waiting to be discovered. What better way to discover the ruined castles, rich wildlife, fabulous local seafood, welcoming hotels and magnificent scenery than on foot.

The Kintyre Way allows you to explore the quiet and hidden places, small local fishing villages, the crashing Atlantic waves and the rich wildlife (including otters, seals, seabirds and perhaps a basking shark) of the Kintyre Peninsula, a magnificent peninsula that feels more island than mainland, on a 89 mile self-guided walking holiday.

One of this holiday’s great features is the high quality of the country inns, family B&B’s and guesthouses you will enjoy – each is unique and offers the highest levels of welcome, atmosphere and outstanding local cuisine.

As with all our independent inn to inn walking holidays we have made every effort to ensure that you have a relaxed and memorable walking holiday in Scotland. Additionally we would be happy to tailor this holiday to suit you.

Highlights:

  • Spotting your first otter foraging in cold clear waters of Loch Fyne.
  • Enjoying the bracing sea air as you stride along the white sands of Machrihanish Beach and the Atlantic rolls in.
  • Feasting on langoustines, oysters and mussels pulled fresh from the sea that day.
  • Sampling the treats of Campbeltown’s Famous Distilleries.
  • Watching the sun slide into the mountains of Jura at the end of a rewarding day’s walking.
  • Meeting the genuine, friendly people of this remote and distinctly relaxed forgotten corner of Scotland.

“ I just wanted to drop you a short note to thank you for the excellent service my wife and I received from you and your affiliates during our just completed great glen walk. The accommodations and hosts were uniformly superb, and the luggage transfers went off without a hitch. I have subscribed to your newsletter, and be sure that you will be my first choice for any further Scottish rambling.” Brad Harper, U.S.A.
