Getting to the Start of the
Walk - Milngavie (Glasgow)
Milngavie is on the outskirts of Glasgow so the information
below refers mainly to getting to Glasgow.

By Air
Glasgow is served by two international airports.
Glasgow International Airport
Located 8 miles south of Glasgow is served by routes from around
Britain and the world. A regular shuttle service runs to the

Prestwick International Airport
Located 30 miles south of Glasgow prestwick is served primarily
by Ryanair. A train service runs from Prestwick to Glasgow
city centre. Note
that
this takes approx. 50 mintes so
don't cut it too fine. Again their website has details of routes
and operators.

By Rail
Glasgow is served by several operators from throughout Britain.
It is important to book as far in advance as possible to

Glasgow is served by an excellent motorway network. long
term parking is generally not available in the city centre
but unsecure parking is available in Milnagavie at the start
of the walk.

Getting Around
Glasgow has an excellent public transport system with
both an underground, train and bus service.
Taxi services are also very reasonable within Glasgow.

Getting to Milngavie
from Glasgow
Milngavie is easily accessed from Glasgow on the morning that you start
walking by any of the following methods.
Taxi: Ask
your hotel to call you a private hire taxi and this will take
about 15 minutes and cost around £10 to £15.
Train: Trains run every 30 minutes
from Glasgow Queen Street Station to Milngavie and the fare is
£2.25. Train times are not suitable on Sundays for Milngavie.See www.travelinescotland.com
Bus: Bus services start from Buchanan
Street Bus Station and are operated by First Glasgow and take
about 30
minutes. Currently bus numbers are 109 and 119. Again use Traveline
Scotland for times.
Private transfers: For larger
groups we can organise private airport pickups and transfers
from Glasgow to Milngavie.

Getting
from Fort William
Fort William is well served by public transport and is the perfect starting
off point for exploring the north west highlands or islands. All the following
information refers to return transport to Glasgow.
