Winter Ben Nevis Adventure

2 days, 2 nights

Fort William

Grade: Challenging

Our Winter Ben Nevis Adventure is an action packed weekend and the following outline itinerary should give you a good idea what to expect and assist you in making any travel reservations.

Day 1 (Friday Evening) - Pickup from Glasgow and travel to Fort William
17:00 - Pickup in Glasgow City Centre
17:45 - Pickup at Glasgow International Airport
Travel to Fort William stopping for dinner on the way.

21:00 - Arrive Fort William and check in to accommodation
21:00 - Meet anyone who has chosen to meet us in Fort William
21:15 - Short briefing about the weekend's program.

Day 2 - (Saturday) Winter Skills Training
Today you will learn the skills necessary to travel safely in the mountains in winter. Crampon, ice axe use and snow craft are all covered. We will be based at the Nevis Range Ski Area as we can catch the Gondola to 2000 ft and spend maximum time in the snow.
9:00 - Meet after breakfast & organise hire gear etc.
Travel to Nevis Range (15 minutes)
Day winter skills training on Aonach Mor.
16:00 - Return to Fort William

19:30 - Dinner

Day 3 - (Sunday) Ben Nevis Day
Our primary day on Ben Nevis - a fantastic winter experience.
7:00 - Breakfast
8:00 - Start Ben Nevis Climb
16:00 - Finish Ben Nevis and return transfer to Glasgow.
19:30 - Drop-off at Glasgow Airport
20:00 - Drop-off at Glasgow City Centre.

This itinerary is a guide and timing may change slightly. We will always be back in Glasgow for 20:00 on the Sunday evening though.

Important: Weather and snow conditions in Scotland do vary and we cannot guarantee suitable snow or weather conditions to teach every aspect that this adventure aims to address. Your leader will always try to make the most of the current conditions and develop your skills as walkers regardless of weather. If the conditions are dangerous the leader will make the final decision on whether to go ahead with an activity.
