Annapurna Sanctuary Trek Overview
The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is a classic tea house trek into the heart of the High Himalaya. Trekking between small mountain villages you climb through increasingly beautiful mountain scenery before reaching Annapurna Base Camp in the Annapurna Sanctuary, where you will be completely surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks swathed in snow, ice and glaciers.
Experience the classic Himalayan views including the famous Macchapucchre (The Fishtail Mountain) and the Annapurna panorama from Poon Hill at dawn.
The trek from Tikhe Dunga to Annapurna Base Camp offers spectacular mountain views and takes you on a wonderful adventure through forests of bamboo, rhododendron and Nepalese culture. It’s a great trek for those who want to experience the high mountains of the Himalaya in a reasonable timeframe and without ascending to the more extreme altitudes associated with the Everest Region.
Your adventure begins with an overnight in the vibrant city of Kathmandu and we will then transfer you by road to the start of your trek near Pokhara. Your 11 day (10 night) trek begins just outside Pokhara. Initially you climb steeply to Ghorapani and Poon Hill before moving west and onto Annapurna Base Camp via the Macchapuchhre Base Camp. You return to Pokhara for the night and will stay in a lakeside lodge with stunning views. The following day we will drive you back to Kathmandu where you can spend a few days exploring the city before we transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
Highlights:
- Absorbing the spectacular dawn view of the Annapurna Himal from Poon Hill.
- Experiencing some of the best lodges in Nepal, run by the hospitable Thakali people.
- Being surrounded by Himalayan High Peaks in the Annapurna Sanctuary.
- Breathtaking views of Annapurna south face from Annapurna Base Camp.
- Excitement of exploring the bustling streets of Thamel in Kathmandu.
