Fringing the North York Moors National Park where lush green fields and unbroken heather dominate, the Cleveland Way allows you to explore an untouched area of Northern England where dinosaurs once used to roam. Pilgrims found peace and settled on these moors creating important abbeys and churches, the remains still seen today. Fantastic views over the Cleveland Hills followed by breathtaking walking on some of the highest cliffs in the country, make this walk one to remember.
Your journey starts in the market town of Helmsley and heads north through spectacular open heather moorland, passing through many small villages until you reach Saltburn on the east coast. From here you hug the coastline down through old fishing villages and lively coastal towns to Filey. The quiet, peaceful moorland walking combined with dramatic cliff top walking provides a varied and interesting walking holiday. This walk gives you a chance to explore North England’s rich history while offering fantastic views from the coast.
