Corsica GR20 Map and Itinerary
DAY 1 Arrive Ajaccio and Overnight
We recommend flying to Ajaccio, from there you will be transfered from the airport to your hotel. Settle into your accommodation, Ajaccio is the capital city of Corsica and is a great place to explore on your first evening.
Overnight: Ajaccio
DAY 2 Meet at Ajaccio ferry terminal at 2pm for your transfer to Bavella.
This journey will take approx 2hr30mins as you pass throught the Alta Rocca. You have time to settle into your Gite before dinner.

DAY 3 Walk to Asinau
Walk along the GR20 alpine variant to pass through the very heart of the Bavella massive. Rose granite needles tower above, a chaotic jumble of granite surrounds you. You will descend into Asinau Valley where you will stay overnight.

Walk: 6km | 750m-550m Ascent/Descent | 5 Hours
DAY 4 Walk to Bassetta
Ascend to the dramatic summit of Monte Alcudina (2134m). The view is panoramic, you can see your route stretching out ahead of you. The plateau of Cuscionu, dotted with shepherd's cabins that were once the homes of many shepherd's families.
Overnight: Bassetta
Walk: 12km | 750m-1000m Ascent/Descent | 6 Hours
DAY 5 Walk to Usciolu Refuge
You leave Bassetta crossing the strikingly green pozziness along a small river. You will then join the mountain ridge which will lead you to Usciolu Refuge. The high airy views are superb.
Overnight: Usciolu Refuge
Walk: 7km | 600m-200m Ascent/Descent | 4.4 Hours
DAY 6 Walk to Col de Verde
This stage of the walk offers some great views down across the the flat eastern plains and sea lagoons. You follow the ridge before a descent that winds rapidly down in and out of the forest to the Col de Verde.
Overnight: Col de Verde
Walk: 12km |700m - 1150m Ascent/Descent | 6.5 Hours
DAY 7 Walk to Capanelle
Today the trail leads you through a fantastic forest of high pine trees. You walk on the lower flanks of the dominating massif Monte Retondo to arrive at Capanelle.

Walk: 13km |650m - 350m Ascent/Descent | 5 Hours
Day 8 Walk to Vizzavona
Today is the last stage of the southern section of the GR20. The path follows a long undulating trail past several shepherd's cabins. You will head uphill to the Col Palmente where you can enjoy views of the east coast and sea lagoons. You then head down through a forest on a well graded path to Vizzavona.

Walk: 15km |250m - 900m Ascent/Descent | 6 Hours
Day 9 Walk to Onda
Today is the first stage of the north section of the GR20. An ascent to the Breche de Muratellu (2100m). The path leads along the cascade des Anglais to Muratellu, affording stunning views of the Monte Rotondu.

Walk: 8km |1200m - 800m Ascent/Descent | 6 Hours
Day 10 Walk to perta Paina
Today you will take the high level route following the ridge, via the summit of Pinzi Corbini (2021m/6630ft) to the Petra Piuana refuge. (1840m/6037ft)
Overnight: Petra Piana refuge
Walk: 7km |900m - 400m Ascent/Descent | 5 Hours
Day 11 Walk to Camputile
From petra Piana a short uphill section takes you to the high ridge above the refuge. This trail can be quite rocky. You will then take the mountain pass and continue on the high route. The views at this stage are spectacular and you can see Corte, the islands historic capital in the distance and a series of wonderful glacier lakes below.

Walk: 10.5km |700m - 1000m Ascent/Descent | 6 Hours
Day 12 Walk to Castel di vergio
Today you will discover the lac di Nino, a glacier lake surrounded by spongy peat with runnels of water and wells. The trail follows a high ridge with magnificent views and the occassional blue glint of the sea below.

Walk: 12km |600m - 800m Ascent/Descent | 5 Hours
Day 13 Walk to Vallone
Today you will ascend into the Golo Valley, A mountain ridge walk, offering spectacular views of the west coast, takes you to Ciuttolu i Mori refuge (2000m), the highest in Corsica. You will then descend via the Col de Foffiale to Vallone.

Walk: 11km |650m - 650m Ascent/Descent | 5.5 Hours
Day 14 Walk to Haut Asco
Today you will discover the mythical Cirque del la Solitude. The geology, the closeness of the rocks and often billowing mist make this a dramatic and impressive section in Corsica's grand granite barrier. You will be climbing with the aid of chains fixed into the stone on this day.

Walk: 7.5km |800m - 1000m Ascent/Descent | 6.5 Hours
Day 15 Walk to Bonifatu
Today you will make your ascent to Bocca Di Stagnu at the foot of the Muvrella (2150m). The presence of the sea signals the end of the GR20. Without a doubt this is one of the most spectacular parts of the trail. You will then make your descent through Bonifatu cirque. You can then catch public transport back into Ajaccio where your accommdoation is for this night.

Walk: 9km |600m - 1400m Ascent/Descent | 6 Hours
Day 16 Morning transfer to Ajaccio and Onward Travel
Today we have arranged for a morning transfer from your hotel in Ajaccio back to Ajaccio airport for your onward travel.
