Trek to Everest Base Camp via the connoisseur’s route.Take on a real challenge and enjoy the very best views of Everest. This is a challenging 17 day trek for those looking for a superior experience in the Everest Region.
Everest exerts a pull like no other mountain, and trekking to the base of Everest through the majesty of the high Himalaya delivers physical, and mental reward like no other trek on Earth. The mountain scenery is simply spectacular, the complete immersion in the Sherpa culture fascinating and the physical challenge a reward in itself.
Climb the largest glacier in Nepal, suck in the spectacular view of Everest from Gokyo Ri (5483m), challenge yourself on the Cho La, gasp at the chaos of the Khumbu ice fall above Everest Base Camp and burn the sight of Everest from Kala Pattar into your consciousness. This is a trek of superlatives!
Arrive in Kathmandu and let the sights, smells and sounds of this vibrant city overwhelm you. Discover the secrets of the city on a full day tour. The following day we will transfer you to the airport for your short flight to Lukla where your trek will begin. Initially the route follows the main trail to EBC before you branch off to the spectacular Gokyo Valley, climb Gokyo Ri, cross the Cho La Pass (5330m), visit Everest Base Camp and take in the dawn view of Everest from Kala Patter (5545m).
Highlights:
- Arguably the best view of Everest from Gokyo Ri (5483m).
- Experiencing the rich and welcoming Sherpa culture in the Solu Khumbu region.
- Crossing the challenging Cho La Pass (5420m) into the Khumbu valley.
- Reaching Everest Base Camp and your view of the Khumbu Ice Fall.
- The breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu & Cho Oyu from Gokyo.
- The sense of achievement as you stand atop Kala Pattar at dawn looking up at Everest.

Is it for me?: If I was planning a trek in the Everest Region, this is the trek I would do. The detour via Gokyo Lakes and the Cho La Pass offers some of the very best views the region has to offer. This route to EBC is less trodden and you see far more of the Khumbu which is stunning. It is long and at points tough but the route allows you to acclimitize well.
