Camino de Santiago - Le Puy Route

The Le Puy Route along the Camino de Santiago starts in the town of Le Puy and follows the pilgrims path south to the Pyrenees, to St Jean Pied de Port. The Camino de Santiago through France is also known as the ‘Via Podensis’ and follows the popular GR65, passing many churches, cathedrals and small medieval villages en-route.

Meeting fellow pilgrims, sharing stories and like many of those who choose to walk the Camino de Santiago, gain a very special spiritual insight. Modern pilgrims choose to walk the French Camino for personal, spiritual or religious reasons or simply to take some time out from their busy modern lives. Whatever your reason for starting, you are sure to become addicted to this wonderful journey through its breathtaking landscape in rural France.

Macs Adventure offers this Camino between Le Puy and Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in six different sections of roughly a week, which can be combined depending on how much time you have. Alternatively true pilgrims will want to walk the entire route over six weeks or perhaps even continue with the Camino Frances to Santiago when they reach St Jean Pied de Port.

Once a fairly quiet route, the Le Puy Camino is now becoming one of the more popular routes to Santiago. Wonderful food, charming rural villages, magnificent cathedrals, authentic French food and the unbeatable landscapes of southern France make this a walk you won't want to miss.

Our packages on the Camino de Santiago Le Puy route include hand picked accommodation in private rooms, breakfast and dinner each day, daily baggage transfer, a detailed information pack, maps and emergency support. This means you can relax and enjoy every minute of your walk from Le Puy on the Camino.

Highlights:

  • Beautiful churches and medieval villages along the French Way.

  • Experiencing the local French cuisine and local wines along the trail.

  • Meeting fellow pilgrims, hearing their stories and travel tips along the way.

  • Completing a unique and rewarding journey through rural France.
