The Great Glen Way is a fascinating 73 mile walk through Scotland’s most famous Glen from Fort William to Inverness via Loch Ness. It is a wonderful relaxed walk where you walk through beautiful forests, peaceful working canals and magnificent brooding lochs.
Starting in Fort William near the base of Britain’s highest mountain, you follow the Caledonian canal via Neptune’s Staircase to Gairlochy for your first nights accommodation. You then continue on the trail up Loch Lochy to South Laggan, and onto Invermoriston via Loch Oich and the Kytra Lock. You now walk on the western shores of Loch Ness as you head up to Drumnadrochit. Cruises on Loch Ness can be taken from both Fort Augustus, Drumnadrochit and Inverness. Finally you continue walking northeast until reaching the historic town of Inverness for your last night’s accommodation.
Every holiday we offer features hand-picked overnight accommodation in high quality B&B’s, country inns, and guesthouses. Is it for me?: The Great Glen Way is a beautiful walk along some of the most dramatic scenery in the country. The Great Glen was frequently used by Robert the Bruce to covertly travel North, so there is a rich history to the area to accompany its jaw dropping vistas.
