Comments about macs adventure Lake Constance Cycle Path: The Classic Way:

Fulfilled a longtime ambition to cycle round Lake Konstanz. Ideal as a leisure cycling trip, would suit families and small children as well as cyclists who don't want to eat the miles. At 50km a day, destination reached by lunchtime so plenty of time to sightsee. It's a beautiful area, pretty villages, mountain and of course the lake. We travelled Sept/Oct - the weather was cycling perfect and Oktoberfest was getting underway. We took our own bikes - it would have helped to know the surfaces we would be cycling on (mainly tarmac but some dirt roads) as we have delicate tyres! Some confusion over arrangements for the final day (Rhine section) - need clearer information here. You will get more out of your trip if you research sights and detours well ahead of time and plan them in - we didn't.

Comments about macs adventure Lake Constance Cycle Path: The Classic Way:

A great week of cycling. Lots of variety along the route; mostly cycle path but some road work. Food and drink easily accessible. Lots to see. Absolutely recommend cable car up Pfänder and loved the Rhine Falls.

Directions to hotel at the end of the day could have been a lot better. Disappointing location of hotel at Constance so far away from bars & restaurants. Bus worked but should have requested different option. Irritated at having to pick bike up; always had them delivered to hotel in the past.

Disappointing

Comments about macs adventure Lake Constance Cycle Path: The Classic Way:

Lake Constance is very attractive but the cycle path round it is very rarely by the Lake. About 70% of the time you wouldn't know you are by the Lake because you can't see it. Cyclists are routed beside busy roads, through residential streets and unattractive industrial estates. Any paths directly by the Lake tend to be reserved for pedestrians and cyclists are not allowed. The last two days of the trip, when Lake Constance was left behind and the route followed the Rhine, were far more enjoyable - much quieter, through woods and fields in constant view of a beautiful river. But we wouldn't recommend the path round Lake Constance. There are many more beautiful cycle ways than this.

If you are looking for a cycling holiday look no further than this. Lake Constance is picture perfect with great, well signposted cycle paths through beautiful medieval villages and stunning scenery. You will travel seamlessly through three countries all with friendly and helpful locals. Cycling is a normal way of life here and you will feel instantly at home. Accommodation was good and varied from old world to brand new hotels and luggage appeared as if by magic at the end of each day. We thought the trip to the Rhein Falls was slightly disappointing and the hotel at Schaffhausen was difficult to find after a long hot day cycling but it didn't detract from the overall experience. Visit the flower island of Mainau if you can and try a cruise on one of the many ferries. Overall our verdict is "Brilliant "

Comments about macs adventure Lake Constance Cycle Path: The Classic Way:

Directions out of Kreuzlingen and Konstance to the bike path were a nightmare. Once out of the city it was navigable. The bike was very heavy and some of the climbs were literally impossible. Finding some of the sites or points of interest can be quite challenging and time consuming. Towns are gorgeous and the hotels are absolutely top notch. I was very impressed and each evening the daily frustration was well rewarded! I wish I had more time in between to really poke around the towns. I would never do a daily ride for so many consecutive days again. Maybe a combo of hike and ride. Luggage transfers were wonderful too.

It was a great trip, with fantastic accommodation, great trip notes& maps, although we hardly had to use the maps, due to the excelent way marking by either signage or path markings.
The only minor negative was the accommodation location in Uberlingen was at the highest point in the town, with steep roads which had to be navigated through congested traffic.

This was our first time on a cycle trek holiday. The route was as described and there were highlights such as the Rhein Falls and the historic towns and villages we passed through. We loved the cycling and especially the hotel in Stein am Rhein. Only one quibble; the position of the hotel in Constance was too noisy and we didn't sleep on either night of our stay.

From bike pick up to return, hotels and scenery, it was great. Had problem with chain dropping from 2nd to 1st, which was fixed in Stein Am Rhein in 30 minutes and refunded before I got home.
Hotels were great. It was a challenge to reach the hotel in Uberlingen which was 2-3 km uphill. Most bikes had to be pushed up and the one e-bike was particularly heavy.
Took 2 ferry boat rides - great for a break and to miss rain showers.
We took the optional side excursion to Isle of Reichenau and it was worth it. Added about 2 hours.
Would do the Lake Constance ride again

Comments about macs adventure Lake Constance Cycle Path: The Classic Way:

This was our third cycle trip with Macs Adventure. Lake Constance Cycle Path was very scenic, passing through many interesting towns, villages and countryside areas along the way.
Accommodations were lovely with excellent breakfasts and great service.
Park Hotel, St. Leonard was nice, but in our ( group of six) opinion not a good choice because of location. At the end of the day we were not at all thrilled to have to make our way to this hotel at the top of a long and steep hill. Directions to hotel were also not clear.
Overall, we were were happy with the trip and look forward to another one next year.
