Arriving into Palma Airport, you will be transferred to the village of Soller (40min), situated in the heart of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains. Days 2-7: Choice of Walks or Sightseeing from Soller

As this is a single-centre holiday, each day you can choose from various walks which we will provide detailed walking route notes and maps for. Options are also provided for local sightseeing. Choices include the following;

Tour of the Small Villages Walk from Soller: An easy walk to the villages of Fornalutx and Binibassi combined with an optional energetic climb up the Cami de s’Alzina Fumadora stairway. (12.8km, 587m Ascent/Descent)

Walk Soller to Cala Tuent: A full day out combining an energetic walk through a lush valley and along a coastal path, a boat journey, and the “orange express” tram. (14km, 688m Ascent/738mDescent)

Walk Soller to Deia: A fine walk to the picture-postcard village of Deia with it’s ochre-coloured houses.  (10km, 427m Ascent/285m Descent)

Walk from Port de Soller to Picada Tower and the S’Illeta Path:  Walk along the coast from Port de Soller, through winding olive groves and with swimming and picnic stops along the way. (9km, 332m Ascent/333m Descent)

Walk from Cuber to Soller via the Biniaraix Valley: Take a taxi to Cuber Reservoir and walk on dry stone paths past citrus groves, rock and cave formations through the Biniaraix ravine.  (12km, 266m Ascent/983m Descent)

Bus to Valldemossa and Walk the Archdukes Pass: Enjoy spectacular coastal views and glimpses into traditional mountain industries, passing several charcoal ovens and lime kilns. (13.3km, 662m Ascent/663mDescent)

Choice of Sightseeing from Soller

Tram to Port de Soller: Whilst in Soller, an essential place to visit is its charming twin town of Port de Soller, which sits right on the coast.  The bay is lined with a long sandy beach and it has a pedestrianised promenade with plenty of cafes and restaurants. The best way to get there is to take the old ’orange express’ tram from Soller, which passes through orange and lemon tree groves on the way.

Palma by Train: This vintage railway has been in operation since 1912 and is a beautiful way to travel to the capital city. Characterised by its narrow-gauge track, the train is all mahogany panels and brass fittings, and  takes you on a journey through the open countryside.

Palma: The vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Palma is a delightful place to spend a day exploring. Enjoy the islands best restaurants, shops and a lively arts and café scene. Take a wander around the old quarter with its quirky buildings and Gothic cathedral. And then enjoy a stroll along the stylish promenade and marina.

Soller: There is plenty to see in Soller itself including the bustling main square, Placa Constitucio, a covered market, and an elegant baroque church, the Esglesia de Sant Bartomeu.

Lluc Monastery: Mallorca’s most sacred site and a place of pilgrimage since the 13th century. Explore the complex which includes the Els Porxerets, former pilgrims quarters, and a beautiful rockery and botanic garden. If you are early enough you may catch the choir school children, “Els Blauets”, who sing the salve each day at 1:15.

Deia & Valldemossa: Two charming stone-built villages which can be visited on a couple of the recommended walks. However, if you would like more time to explore, you can visit both of these villages from Soller using the regular bus service which runs between Soller and Palma.

Availability

You can start this walking tour on any day of your choice between March and June, and September to October. We don’t recommend July or August as it tends to be too hot for walking then. The best months for walking tend to be between March and May, and September through to October, when the temperatures are a bit cooler. Mallorca is very popular and the accommodation does fill up quickly so we recommend booking as early as possible.

Please note that this tour is only available for departures from mid October 2016 this year. If you would like to travel in September 2016 please contact us to discuss some other options.

Time of Year

In our opinion, the best months to travel are May and September, when the temperatures are nice and pleasant for walking. Flowers will also be in full bloom in May.
