Walkers at the start of the Lycian Way Local transport Views over the Seven Capes Kayakoy Village The fascinating ruins at Patara

The Lycian Way (West)

Discover the real, rustic Turkey on the Lycian Way, Turkey’s first long-distance footpath. The path winds its way along the dramatic rocky coastline of the Mediterranean on ancient mule and cliff-top paths, occasionally dipping into shaded pine forests and dropping down to peaceful coves where you can take a break to swim in the deep blue turquoise sea.

Our carefully selected route on the Lycian Way explores the dramatic limestone peaks above the sea as well as taking you through peaceful shaded forests and remote villages where friendly locals will welcome you with genuine hospitality. Along the way you will also discover many ancient ruins from the Lycian and Roman periods. All of this makes for a unforgettable week of walking in a truly beautiful country.

Your walking holiday begins by exploring the abandoned Greek village of Kayakoy before heading on to the start of the walk at Ovacik and then following the path to Patara with its sandy dunes and ancient ruins.

During your walking holiday in Turkey you will stay at welcoming hand picked traditional accommodation in traditional Turkish pensions and small hotels. We take care of every detail of your holiday so you don’t have to worry about a thing, apart from enjoying the walking.

Our walking holiday on the Lycian Way includes; ensuite accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, door to door baggage transfer, guidebook and detailed route notes, transfers as necessary and emergency phone support.

Highlights:

  • Cliff-top panoramas of the glittering turquoise sea.
  • The warm and genuine hospitality of locals in remote Turkish villages.
  • Views down the dramatic Butterfly Valley from Faralya Village.
  • The fascinating ruins of Patara including the ancient aquaduct, necropolis and basilica.
