The Scottish Coast to Coast - Accommodation
Accommodation:
One of the highlights of this tour is the high standard of the accommodation you will enjoy. The hotels, inns, guesthouses and B&B’s we use are hand-picked to ensure that you enjoy every minute of your stay. All offer a warm welcome to bikers, traditional hospitality and delicious local food. We do recommend that you book this trip early as the area is always popular and the hotels and inns do fill up early, especially in high season.

All the accomodation we use is of at least a three star grade and rooms have en-suite bathrooms.

All the accommodation we use has secure bike storage and most can help out with bike washing facilities on request.

Single Rooms:
This independent holiday is unfortunately not available to solo bikers but if you require single rooms within your party we will of course try to accommodate your request subject to availability. As all our holidays are priced per person based on two sharing there is a single supplement payable to cover the additional costs we incur.

Meals:

A full Scottish or continental breakfast is included each morning while lunch and dinner are not included so you are free to choose from the available options. Your accommodation will generally be more than happy to provide a packed lunch on request and this can be booked on arrival, alternatively you can pick up supplies at the local shops or on the way. Dinner is available either at your accommodation or nearby pubs and restaurants and your info pack will of course have recommendations.

Additional Nights: (£35pppn)
There is so much outstanding riding in the Highlands that it makes sense to spend extra nights along the way to explore more of the highlands. I would recommend extra nights in Fort William, Laggan and Aviemore which all have excellent riding and numerous visitor attractions to keep you amused. They are also great for a well deserved rest day.

Distant Hills Guest House Distant Hills Guest House, Spean Bridge
Distant Hills is an established family run guest house, set in extensive grounds and located at the edge of a quiet Highland village.

A comfortable, well furnished lounge with quiet outlook over the Nevis Range mountains. A pleasant dining room offers excellent home cooking with an accent on fresh local produce. All our well furnished bedrooms are ensuite, having colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Vist Website.

Monadhliath Hotel

Monadhliath Hotel, Laggan
The Monadhliath Hotel was originally built as a church manse, with the remains of the old church still standing in the grounds. It was converted during the 1970's and although recently modernised, it has lost none of it's warmth and character which together with it's extensive grounds of flowers, shrubs and firs encourage you to relax and unwind. Your bags will be collected from your accommodation each day and moved onto your overnight accommodation. We ask you to limit your luggage to one bag of up to 15kg per person.

Holiday Grading & Suitability
This holiday is graded moderate to challenging and goes through remote and demanding terrain so you should be a regular and fit mountain biker who relishes the thought of a long day in the saddle. You should also be comfortable with dealing with trail side repairs or emergencies as these do happen. If you feel it might be at the top of your comfort zone it would be a good idea to include additional rest days.

Navigation
The route is not waymarked. We will supply you with a route description, detailed maps with the route marked and a GPS with the route preloaded for you to use for the duration of the trip. This is not a substitute for sound navigation skills and at least two of your party should have good navigation skills.

Equipment:
A mountain bike in good condition is essential. Most riders prefer riding a XC type bike although everything from a hardtail to all mountain will be fine. Your information pack has a detailed suggested equipment list which includes standard mountain biking gear such as helmet, cycling clothes, warm and waterproof clothes and a day pack.

Bike Hire:
Macs Adventure is able to organise bike hire on your behalf. Hire of a standard good quality hardtail is £115 per week. Full suspension is available from around £200 per week.

Information Pack:
Your information pack includes details of your overnight accommodation, a route description, detailed 1:50 000 OS maps covering the route, travel information and suggestions on attractions, points of interest and places to eat and drink.
