South West Coast Path - Exmouth to Lyme Regis
This section of the South West Coast Path is one of contrasts - from red sandstone, to lush green countryside to white chalky cliffs. Explore the varied coastline and enjoy a geological walk through time as you take in part of the Word Heritage Site - the Jurassic Coast. Undercliff paths, fascinating geological formations and rare wildlife combined with pretty seaside towns and quaint Devon villages make this part of the coastline a beautiful place to explore on foot.
Leaving the bustling seaside town of Exmouth behind, you soon arrive at Orcombe Point which marks the official start of the Jurassic Coastline. Follow cliff top paths to the quaint village of Budleigh Salterton, then on to discover the wildlife and red sandstone stacks of Ladram Bay. Exercise those legs as you walk between the cliffs and secluded coves between Sidmouth and Beer, taking in dramatic views as you do. Finally follow the undercliff paths through the unique jungle like terrain of the Undercliffs National Nature Reserve to finish your walk at the distinctive harbour wall, The Cobb, in Lyme Regis.
Highlights:
- Walking through the unique jungle-like atmosphere of the Undercliff National Nature Reserve.
- Ladram Bay with its abundance of wildlife and dramatic red-stone stacks and caves.
- Colourful villages such as Branscombe and Beer.
- Bustling seaside towns of Exmouth and Sidmouth.
