Barolo Village White Truffles of Alba A farm surrounded by vineyards in Piedmont Dusty wine cellar Wine Harvest

Barolo Vineyard Trail

The Barolo Vineyard Walking Trail winds its way through Piedmont, Italy’s hidden paradise for wine connoisseurs and gourmets. It explores the Langhe region, set between the Alps and the Apennine mountains, which is blessed with fertile lands that produce the Tube Magnatum, a prized white truffle, and one of Italy’s most prestigious red wines: the Barolo.

Piedmont is a region of Italy where food comes first and other local specialities of this area, which boasts a centuries old tradition of gastronomy, include gourmet cheeses, delicious pastries, hazelnut chocolates and indulgent deserts. As you walk amongst vineyards between pretty medieval villages you will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the food and wine of the area.

The rolling landscape of the Langhe region in Piedmont is a rich tapestry of vineyards, hazelnut plantations and dense oak woods, sprinkled with picturesque villages, elegant castles and feudal towers. Your walk begins in historic Alba, with its thriving restaurant scene, truffle fair and annual donkey race. From Alba you wind your way through the rolling hills of the Langhe to Barolo, Monforte d’Alba, Cissone and Cravanzana before reaching Cortemilia, the end of the trail.

Your holiday includes seven nights accommodation in charming family run three star hotels and cosy agriturismo, many of whom are well known for their excellent cuisine. Breakfast, luggage transfer, emergency support, detailed route notes and maps are all included so you can just relax and enjoy the walking, food and wine of Piedmont.

Highlights:

  • A huge selection of incredible wines, cheeses, sweets and chocolates to taste.
  • Wonderful local restaurants, many featuring the famed white truffle.
  • Relaxing walking through vineyards and hazelnut forests.
  • Authentic family run accommodation, some with prize winning restaurants.
