Comments about Across the Isle of Skye Walking Holiday :
This was a great extension to the West Highland Way and it offered several options. The hospitality was wonderful with each provider providing friendly assitance with all enquiries in addition to very high standard of accommodation. We were blessed with good weather and great visibility which was a bonus. [...]

Comments about Across the Isle of Skye Walking Holiday :
We made this walk in early May and generally had good weather. The natural beauty of Skye was remarkable, and the route covers a wide variety of terrain, all of it interesting. We came across only a dozen other walkers during the week. The accommodations were not luxurious but quite comfortable, and the proprietors of the B&Bs in which we stayed could not have been more hospitable. On the third day, we were unable to take the boat trip because of high winds and rough seas, but the alternative walk from Elgol to Sligachan was spectacular (and a little frightening during the first part, along the cliffside) — it’s hard to see how the boat trip could have been as good. The lack of a marked path for portions of the trip made it more interesting in a way, although at times we were unsure if we were proceeding correctly. All in all, an excellent trip.
A great week!

A great week! A lovely journey exploring the many sides of Skye, criss-crossing the island, with many splendid views of coast and hills. The routes were adequately explained, and the walking often rugged and challenging enough to feel good achievement at the end of the day. Although the weather wasn’t at its best, and wet weather gear well and truly tested (!), there was always a warm friendly welcome, hot showers and dry clothes available at our destination. The hotels were splendid, and the B&Bs comfortable, and luggage and transport were always where they should be. We’ll be back!

“Walking Across the Isle of Skye” was a fantastic trip- it was well organised and the route notes were accurate- thank you! All accommodation was excellent and the swift transfer of our bags was great. The taxi transfer from Ord was a revelation at the end of that long day! There are some tough days on rough tracks but plenty of options if the weather is not good. We had only one wet day and managed to complete the walking programme (thumbing a lift from a Royal Mail van is effective should you miss a bus!). The walk through the Cullins from Elgol to Sligachan was absolutely stunning. Make sure you can use a map and compass for this walk. This was another fantastic Macs Adventure trip- highly recommended.

Quite strenuous in places, however even though weather wasn’t brilliant, the stunning scenery more than compensated, especially Sligaghan Glen stretch and Old Man of Storr.
Very friendly folk, all along the trail.

Comments about Across the Isle of Skye Walking Holiday :
My wife and I had never been on an organised walking holiday before, or walked continuously for six days since we were teenagers. This was an experiment for us, and a wonderful experiment which lives on in the memory despite three days of torrential rain.
The holiday was well organised, materials prompt, accommodation comfortable and sometimes better, people friendly.
The scenery is all, though. Despite the rain, when the sun did come the views were simply wonderful. Walking through ruined clachans the painful history of the clearances came alive, and the contrasts with warm beds and generous breakfasts marked.
So it wasn’t really the Goretex that made the holiday. But it helped.
Excellent walking-good variety.

Cons-both only happened once. Better than another well known company I used for a walk in England for accommodation.
Loved the ferry to the Cuillins walk.
Descriptions very accurate-footpaths were difficult to find especially near Old Man of Storr.
A great trip.
