Comments about Arran Coastal Way Walking Holiday :
We had a great time on ‘Scotland in miniature’. Landscape was very diverse. Every walk had its own special feature.

When there was too much roadwalking, one could take the bus for a bit. We didn’t see many people while walking except for the beautiful sunny day when we climbed Mount Goatfell. But we did see quite a lot of seals.
Beautiful beaches that are good for a swim.

Enjoyed it lots!

(No need for an extra map/compass – as written in the guide book).

Comments about Arran Coastal Way Walking Holiday :
It was superbly organized. I also appreciated very much the consistent communication before the departure and now again afterwards. You certainly strive for quality. Thank you very much.
About Arran: the fact itself to be welcomed to Arran at the ferry in Brodick with the additional mention of’island of Fairtrade’ made me feel at home at once! Evert part of Arran was suprisingly different. It was for me a ‘AHA Erlebnis’.

Comments about Arran Coastal Way Walking Holiday :
The Arran coastal walk was full of challenge and variety; each day was unique both for its views, terrain and level of difficulty. We loved the actual walks that took us along the coast over boulders and pebble beaches, up hilly tracks and amongst the most beautiful spring-flowered scenery. The sky was a cloudless blue most of the time, but the wind changed the colours and the light over the sea almost by the second, so the view was always changing. The wildlife was varied and abundant and although we sadly did not see any eagles, we knew they were there from talking with other walkers, and we made up for it with sighting harriers and terns, diving into the sea, seals basking on rocks at low tide and skylarks soaring above crags covered in bright yellow gorse. The air was pure and often scented with wild garlic and wild rose, with a sea breeze adding a glow to our cheeks at the end of every day.
The distances between the accommodations were varied, but the limitations on places to stay on the west side of the island make it probably difficult to make the distances more equable. In places the road walking was a bit tedious and we made the decision to walk inland using the cycle track rather than face the boulders near Kilmory. The cycle track was a bit boring as it went through endless planted pine forestry and was the only walk where we wondered how long it would take. We missed the white beaches of Kilmory as a result, so will have to go back to see them!

Comments about Arran Coastal Way Walking Holiday :
Arran is a beautiful island and walking around in April was perfect – sunshine but without too much heat. Great to explore the island without any fuss of having to organise your own accommodation or carry your bags! MacsAdventure were very professional, but happily in the background.

The only downside was that one or two of B&Bs were out of town.

Comments about Arran Coastal Way Walking Holiday :
Don’t think that this is an easy stroll along the beach; it is challenging in places. Fantastic scenery and a must for geology buffs. Plenty birds, seals and otters although we did not see any eagles. Good accommodation especially in Lochranza and Lagg where we even had a folk concert in the garden. Weather was great whilst everywhere else it rained. Will return to Arran

Comments about Arran Coastal Way Walking Holiday :
appreciated the alternative route described to avoid the 2 longest boulder fields.
path finding proved very difficult at end of postmans walk when path seemed to disappear en route to the ladder style which gave acsess to Catacol. We ended up plunging downhill through the bracken to eventually literally stumble upon the path by accident.

Was a well organised mini adventure. A mixture of climbing, scrambling and pleasant forest walks.
There are a few places where you have to be careful, but “That’s Life”

Comments about Arran Coastal Way Walking Holiday :
65 miles in 5 days is tough. the first day of 17miles from Brodick to Lochranza left us with sore feet for the next day of 18 miles to Blackwaterfoot. we decided to catch a bus and save ourselves 8 miles and take in the standing stones. the section from Lagg to whiting bay is coastal and you only do this at low tide. we went inland through the forestry . great accomodation especially at the Lagg Inn and the Isle of arran Brewery Guesthouse where Jo is fantastic .

A Challenging Costal Walk

Comments about Arran Coastal Way Walking Holiday :
We thought this would be a bit of a holiday after completing the West Highland Way last year but it was far from it. The terrain was tough, hard on the feet and the rock crawling and hopping was a challenge at times. It was also a struggle to fight our way through the overgrown bramble and fern which hid the path at times. And the midges……..! However, we kept reminding ourselves that this was an ‘adventure’ and relaxing in some well chosen accommodation was welcome and made up for it after a tough day walking. Organisation once again by Macsadventures was faultless. Arran is a beautiful island and we were very lucky having 5 out of 6 sunny days. Favourite accommodation was the Lagg Hotel, Kilmory.
