Comments about Cateran Trail Walking Holiday :
hi have just done the trail in 3 days.had a great time .everything was as expected accomodation wise.the trail is different from something like WHW in that it varies greatly in the type of terain that it covers.we didnt have to much trouble with the route although there were a couple of places that would benefit from an additional waymarker.perhaps a little more vigilance on my part would have helped..would recommend it to anyone considering doing it..mac:s

Comments about Cateran Trail Walking Holiday :
Cateran Trail was fantastic, very well waymarked, some long walking days, took us 6 hours on the longer days and we walk 12 miles every evening at home, some bits of the walking was tough going in places but all adds to the adventure, B and B’S fantastic, the best being the Old Stable’s in Alyth. Baggage transfer brilliant, bags there before we arrived, Mac’s adventure so helpful in chosing and booking the walking holiday, will be using them again, maybe the West Highland Way nexy year, this trail is a must if you like being in the middle of nowhere with just the sound of the birds, sheep and cows. All in all fantastic experience, little boggy in places so wear gaiters, weather was good for us for 3 days, dull on 2 days and we managed to escape the rain which was a relief. Thanks to Dan at Mac’s adventures for recommending this fantastic trail.

Wonderful countryside, weather rather mixed but a very well organised trip. We set ourselves the challenge as two occasional walkers and were very pleased with the comfortable accommodation and brilliant service that we received at all overnight stays. Many thanks. P.S. No midges!

The service given was most efficient and the information supplied was most comprehensive and easy to follow. Bouquets to the bag handler all luggage arrived at the double! Accommodation first rate and the food was worth the trip on its own!
Highly recommended to anyone wanting a relaxing and rewarding holiday.

There is no crowd on the trail and you arrive in very little villages. So when you look for thrills, don’t do this. But if you are into some nice exercise and afterwards exellent relaxation this is the way to go.
We expected an easy walk (we both have a knee-issue), but it’s heavier than we thought. Very much up and down. The path btw is almost everywhere on dirttrack and paths.
Since it is quite remote on the north end, good weather, as we had, is a very welcome thing.
The B&B were all top notch. Our compliments to MacsAdventures! Bagagetransfers went flawless.
The path is well waymarked, but we managed to take a wrong path a few times. So bring a good map with you. That will help you out.
We did the Way around Arran, The Rob Roy Way and The Coast to Coast Way before. We can assure you this trip is as beautiful as the others.
It sure shows Scotland at its best.

A grand outing from start to finish, our accomodation was all top notch baggage transfer ran without a hitch. And as an added bonus we had hot weather and sunshine all week I suspect this was down to macs adventures as well, because they had planned everything else perfectlly for us.The trail itself is a grand walk something to be enjoyed in all its finery.

Comments about Cateran Trail Walking Holiday :
The best section is between Kirkmichael and Spittal of Glenshee, where you go through a forest and then out onto a moor where there are great views across the rugged countryside.
Worst parts: more boggy and brushy than I would have preferred.
The trail is generally not difficult and is a good choice for people who don’t want to hike long distances every day.
I think it’s great that people can hike across the Scottish countryside, even through private farms and fields. This isn’t possible in the U.S.A.
All fine, no complaints whatso ever

Comments about Cateran Trail Walking Holiday :
As older walkers the first days short walk broke us in gently. Kirkmichael to the Spittal of Glenshee was magical once you were in the glen and really away from it all.It was unfortunate two coaches arrived at the Spittal of Glenshee Hotel just minutes before we did and they ate most of the food from the buffet, but it was only one night and the accommodation on all the other nights was warm, friendly and just excellent.

Comments about Cateran Trail Walking Holiday :
Great 5-day walk but you need the weather to really appreciate it, some stunning views if you’re lucky enough. Not too challenging for an experienced walker although the wilder sections need to be carefully navigated. A walk that was quiet (in April), did not see any other walkers during our walk, but offers plenty of variety. Accommodation was first class, and everwhere we stayed we were given helpful tips on the next day’s walk and suggestions for improving it which proved invaluable on a couple of occasions. The recent changes to the Trail to reduce the amount of road-walking helps a lot. The only real problem is the weather and the risk that if you have mist/rain it can be a pretty miserable few days with little to see.
