Comments about Dales Way Walking Holiday :
Excellent walking trip. We will surely plan another for 2012. The days were full of views and lovely towns. For a couple from Arizona, the velvet green of Yorkshire was splendid.
The Red Lion in Burnsall was our favorite place to stay with a very nice restaurant as well.

Comments about Dales Way Walking Holiday :
I did several trips last year with different vendors. Mac’s had a major edge in terms of personalised service, so I chose them for this year’s UK trip. I was not disappointed. We did an add on, doing the Cumbria Way from Coniseralton to Keswick. Well worth it, and the transition went very smoothly (thanks to the efforts of Laura). This was a very relaxing trip, because I knew that everything would happen as promised. The accommodations were all comfortable; our best nights were at Nethergill Farm (thanks to Fiona and Chris) and Sunny Hills in Burneside (thanks to Ann and Stewart). The al fresco smoking at the Kings Head in Kettlewell led us to dine elsewhere.

Comments about Dales Way Walking Holiday :
We were hoping to enjoy our walk but it greatly exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was organised faultlessly. Most of the accommodations were outstanding for their friendly welcome, food and comfort. The others were good or satisfactory. Our bags disappeared and then reappeared in the evening as if by magic. The map and Guide book were very easy to follow. We noticed how our fitness improved each day so that by the time the long day came it was well within our capabilities. I cannot find anything at all to grumble about. It was fantastic and I hope it will be the first of many similar trips. Thank you Macs Adventure for the excellent service you provided.

Comments about Dales Way Walking Holiday :
The accommodation on the Dales Way was excellent throughout with the small exception of the first & second nights. At Ilkley the room was in need of some attention to cleanliness although the hospitality was very welcoming and friendly, good food at reasonable prices. It was very convenient to the start of the trail,(about 50 yards away). The other exception was at Burnsall where I consider the meal a little over priced for what it was. Also the room was on the third floor, after walking all day climbing stairs was not welcoming.
Two places of accommodation that stood out for me were East House Farm, Beckermans, near Outershaw, (highly recommended) and Bramaskew Farm, Howgill near Sedbergh. Home cooked food, comfortable accommodation and excellent evening meals.

The Dales Way is not too much challenging a walk, with constant changes of scenery and various view points to absorb the tranquil countryside – an excellent first long distance walk.

The trip was well organised and when I needed to make any changes to my plans during the walk, i.e. last point of baggage pick up, Mac Adventure did all the arrangements, which made life easy for my wife, who was meeting me at the end.

I meet some interesting characters on the trail which added to the whole experience.
Overall the countryside was a joy, the people pleasant, and the accommodations were good. This walk is fun and relaxing and if you want the experience of a long distance walk this can satisfy your desire of being outdoors. Mac’s set up is very good, well organised and I will certainly be using them again.

Comments about Dales Way Walking Holiday :
The accommodation on the Dales Way was excellent throughout with the small exception of the first night at the Riverside Hotel, Ilkley where the room was very small and in need of refurbishment. But it was convenient and close to the start of the trail and the staff very welcoming. We would recommend eating at the Ilkley Moor Vaults in the evening before the start of the trail – great food and beer.

Two places that stood out for us accommodation wise:
• Nethergill Farm, Oughtershaw which was superb. Excellent accommodation and food – we ate there in the evening which we would recommend.
• Bramaskew Farm, Howgill near Sedbergh. Home cooked food and comfortable accommodation. We also ate here in the evening which was very good too.

I would also recommend that if possible hikers stay at Sunny Hills, Burneside. This is convenient to get on and off the trail. In the evening we travelled one stop on the local train to Staveley and ate in the Eagle and Child where you can book a table. This is a superb Lakeland pub (great food and beer) as there is no where of merit to eat in Burneside. I think it is worth travelling to this pub even if you are staying in Kendal.

Our only other comment is that although not necessary on the Dales Way it would be useful to include OS grid references for the location of accommodation.

It was a memorable holiday – we met a friendly
group of fellow travellers. All in all an excellent adventure and we will be booking another holiday with Macs next year.

Wonderful experience! Everyday was different. An abundance of wild flowerrs, banks of white garlic, woods carpeted with bluebells and many less common flowers.Birds were plentiful too, I even spotted a kingfisher. The remoteness of the Pennines contrasted to the early part of the walk. Another well organised trip by Macs!

Comments about Dales Way Walking Holiday :
What a great week, great weather, food and accommodation, if that isn’t enough we met the best bunch of walkers on the way. Mostly we ate together in the evenings and my sides ached every night with the laughter.
The trees were all in their brilliant spring colours, the rivers were full of wildlife, big and small, May was just a wonderful time to see all this.
The only down side would be if there had been a few weeks of wet weather before the walk as you cross the watershed between Lancashire and Yorkshire and even in dry conditions this bit is quite rough walking but if it was very wet it would have very boggy and muddy.
If you want to get away from it all and stroll along some of the prettiest parts of the dales and see bit you would never see from a car, this is the one for you.

A great chose for a first long distance walk. Don’t expect to loose any weight with good local beer and plenty of pub grub!
