Outstanding…. wow! you will never see the natural world more beautifully on display than this part of the Himalayas. Every turn, climb, day brought a new long term memory to you. 20 of us raising money for Alzheimer’s Society and 2 children’s Charities one in the UK and one in Kenya headed out to base camp at the end Oct / Start Nov 2011. After the crazy experience of Kathmandu and its regional airport (get there as early as possible for your flight to Lukla..seriously… as early as you can manage) you then arrive after a great flight to start the Base Camp Trek. [...].What I do want you to understand is that this is a superb trip, I have travelled to Africa on more than 10 occasions and climbed Kili twice (both times leading groups of 10). Base camp is worth it all, I have seen in our own group every ability and age achieve this fantastic experience. Our eldest member was 56 and our youngest 16. Do it. Even if you experience a difficult time or find the travel long[...]
Mac’s Adventure Response: Review continued (System auto shortens)
**** Very importantly **** I can say from personal experience of both good and bad situations whilst travelling that Macs is a cut above the rest of the major travel and Trekking organisers. In Price, detail, commitment and communication. I have the highest regard for Neil and his team at Macs, I fully recommend them to you as an individual or as a major group booking. A trip this far away…. needs people that know what they are doing, all of the Nepalese staff used by Macs were professional and dependable. 10/10 for the experience and 10/10 for Macs. Thank you for an amazing trip………

We had had an Awesome time doing the Mount Everest Base Camp trek. We were well looked after from start to finish. When bad weather prevented us getting out of Lukla our guide stayed with us and ensured we had food and shelter. Macs worked hard to ensure all the travel insurance issues were organised with a nice touch of phoning our relatives to let them know we were to be delayed in getting back. Thanks again Macs.

Comments about Everest Base Camp Trek :

The trip was wonderful, we were very lucky in the fact that it was the beginning of the season and thus quite quiet on the walk, especially as when we were walking back particularly at Namche there were more and more trekkers coming along. Also the weather was very sunny with no rain until the last night at Lukla before the flight back when it poured down but as it was our last night and first beer we had drunk in two weeks we didn’t mind.

Everything went to plan and we made it Base Camp with no altitude sickness at all, our guide (basu) and porter (krishna) were also great, basu was determined we would have a good time and make it here, making sure we didn’t go too fast and ensured we had loads of breaks, and also tried to get up to eat more than two people could possibly eat! Krishna was very funny, he seemed to know everyone in every village and if he didn’t he made friends with them as soon as he met them, you could also tell when he was around as it nosier and he made everyone laugh, and was also a devil at cards. They taught us this Nepalese card game so we played that most nights, with Krishna winning most of the time. You couldn’t have met two nicer people they really made an enormous difference to the holiday especially as it was just the four of us, Krishna tended to walk with us which was good.

All in all it was a great holiday, though I don’t think I have ever been as cold as that before, the dining room at gorek shep was -10, and I’ve never walked so far up hill in all my life, on the walk down, looking back at some of the hills we’d climbed I still can’t believe I actually climbed them.

All I can say is I would definitely recommend Macs as every one there went out of their way to answer my emails and the holiday was went ahead with no problems.

Thanks again for all your help
