Comments about Fife Coastal Path Walking Holiday :
Macs did a great job in organising the trip with a bit of added value on upgrading our Burntisland accomdation and arranging car parking at no extra cost They also ensured one of our party always had a gluten free diet.
The Hamish Brown guide book also enabled us to add to the shortest walk by climbing Largo Law.
Accomodations were excellent altho eating out was a bit of a mixed bag.
The Grading System was accurate and at no time did we feel we were taking on too much of a challenge.
The only downside was despite all the signs some Fife residents are either dyslexic or too lazy to pick up their dog’s dirt. This was a particular problem in the early part of the course and having to watch where you are stepping does not allow you to fully appreciate the fine scenery.

North Queensferry to TayportThe castle’s, cemetaries, ocean vistas, villages and the beaches were a joy to explore. Every day there was something that we would not have wanted to miss. It is true that the best days were 3,4&5 between Leven and St. Andrews. Signage was OK, yet sparce in the villages. Because of the mixed terrain we walked with day hiker boots. A downpour at Aberdour Castle, a morning of light rain and the rest of the time it was perfect weather for a light shirt. As for the walk the Ellie Chain Walk is a must![...]

Accomodations were better than expected overall. Colinsburgh instead of Elie was an inconvenience but okay. Food was terrific. Never rained while we walked. The hike was exactly as described. 70 yrs. of age so knowing what we were getting into was critical and it was all described well and no particular challenge for us. The scenery was breathtaking at times. Very friendly people. Macs did a great job but would recommend more info on the history of the Fife kingdom.

Great map and guide book (Hamish Brown). Excellent accommodation in Burntisland, Elie and St Andrews.
Enjoyable walk (despite the Golf courses!) with fine scenery.
Good waterproofs are necessary, of course!
Great to have our bags reliably transported from place to place.

Enjoyed immensely meeting our hosts at the accommodations. They were very helpful in recommending evening meal locations and went out of their way to make us comfortable and “happy” after a long day of hiking. Example:”Don’t worry about the sand (when taking off shoes). It cleans right up.” And, it was so comforting to find our luggage waiting when we arrived. A fine experience!
Amazing scenery and great service

Thoroughly enjoyed walking through coastal villages, along sandy beaches, beside manicured golf course, around castle ruins, and with other adventurers. Although my feet were tired at the end of the day, my heart was full of the beauty and variety of the coast.

Nice short walk for the occasional traveler. Probably even better in the summer time when more people are out walking. Good, well marked paths. Some beautifull scenery.

Great out-of-the-ordinary vacation! What a great opportunity to take life a slower, simpler pace. The vistas and aspects changed as frequently as the weather … just what you’d expect for Scotland. We thought the walks might not be challenging enough, but found that our 15-mile days overed plenty of exercise. We’ll be back.

the organisation of macs adventures was as usual very good which is why I have used them 3 times ,The signs for the coastal path were not so good , at times non existant at others the signs appeared to be for people coming fron north to south.

Everything as described except for some poor signposting through the actual towns – we just wandered along and eventually found the path-signposting through the countryside was generally good We would grade this walk as mostly easy and we aren’t in anyway super fit- all accomodation was very acceptable and each one different – bags were waiting for us at each stop – Breakfasts ‘eggcellent’ and catered for all tastes -although a couple didn’t have breakfast till 8am or after and as early birds we had to cool our heels for a bit but it wasn’t a real issue
