Comments about Great Glen Way Walking Holiday :
Th walk was very well organised. Because it was the end of the season, there was no bagage transport available, so we have to carry our own lugage. That was not a problem at all, because you are shifthing at home the stuff you realy need, and the results are only two backpacks.
Because we were at the end of the season, we had a lot of time too talk with the ownwers of the B&B, espaccialy in the Glen Albyn Lodge near Laggan Lacks and the Tramps in Drumnadrochit. The accomodation and breakfast in all the B&B were excellent.
A compliment to the taxi ”Loch Ness Travel”, who picked us up for the transfers and offered us for free to bring our lugage to the last B&B in Inverness.

Comments about Great Glen Way Walking Holiday :
With exception of the two points below this was a well organized easy going walk and a wonderful way to appreciate the marvelous country side of the Great Glen.

Sadly, in comparison with the documentation for the WHW as provided to us last year the mapping material for the GGW was not up to scratch.
The accommodation at Drumnadrochit (B&B Tramps)did not meet the standards for hikers i.e. too far from the center of town; no cooked breakfast (for which we were advised to go elsewhere).

Comments about Great Glen Way Walking Holiday :
This walk is good for anyone who is reasonably fit with many easy stretches and only a few ascents measured in hundreds of feet. The path is clearly marked and very well maintained with every possible “wrong turning” prevented by a clear marker on the right track. The accommodation is good although the major resorts of Fort William and Fort Augustus suffer from too much tourism and a corresponding loss of that personal touch. Avoid the distillery in Fort William which is a travesty of a tourist attraction – how can a maker and purveyor of single malt whisky have no single malt on sale?!. Some evening meals are well off the beaten track (Spean Bridge is 3 miles distant)and there is a distinct lack of any refreshments during the day.

The organisation by and documentation from Macs was perfect. We used the luggage transfer option which worked well for us. Overall we had an excellent trip which we would certainly recommend to our friends.

Mac’s Adventure did exactly what they said they would, they found us excellent B&B’s and moved our bags between them, whist walking the Great Glen Way, I recommend them to anyone walking the GGW.

Comments about Great Glen Way Walking Holiday :
We just returned from walking the Great Glen Way. Choosing the easiest option we divided the walk into seven sections and luggage transfer. This way we had a lot of time taking pictures and really enjoying the walk to the fullest. Everything worked out smoothly and we had a really good time. All guest houses and B&B were very nice and clean, except for the one in Laggan (Forest Lodge) where the room itself was nice but the cleanliness was below standard. Moreover, carpet in the bathroom isn’t the most hygienic choice! Nevertheless, all our hosts were really friendly and helpful. Especially Mirjam and Bert from Knowle B&B (Drumnadrochit) and David from 7 Ness Bank Guest House (Inverness) were really helpful when we had to postpone the last section of the walk due to my boyfriend falling ill on the last day. That day we were allowed to stay longer and we were even given a ride to Inverness. Luckily we had booked an extra night in Inverness, so that the next day our host (David) gave us a ride to Blackfold and we could still finish the walk. We like to thank the Macs Adventure-Team for doing an excellent job and all our hosts for a very nice holiday!!

Comments about Great Glen Way Walking Holiday :
Every B&B we stayed in had great hosts who could not make you feel more welcome. Our luggage moved from place to place without a hitch.
Our only complaint was the lack of info regarding distances on the Great Glen Way itself.

Comments about Great Glen Way Walking Holiday :
It was a good holiday and the Great Glen Way lived up to expectations.
The accomodation was all excellent with good hosts, and baggage transfers were faultless.

Only negative was that I found the book/maps unhelpful and would have prefered a guide with more map detail, particularly when leaving the designated route for finding B&Bs etc

Keep on walking

Comments about Great Glen Way Walking Holiday :
This is the second time we have used Macs Adventure to organize a walking holiday in Scotland. The accommodation booked is of the best standard and the organization of transferring luggage from place to place is impressive. The documentation provided is clear and concise. All this makes for a great problem-free holiday. All that is required of the walker is to enjoy the walk amid scenery of unsurpassed beauty. Well done Macs Adventure – you do it all. We wouldn’t use anyone else – and will definitely be back.
