A good tour for Whisky and peace & quiet
By Hannah & Volkerfrom Germany on 2011-08-14
Pros:  Beautiful landscapes,Well Organised,Great Accommodations
Cons:  Often river far away,Paths sometimes boring
Describe Yourself:  Occasional Traveller
Best Uses:  Relaxation,Holiday
Bottom Line:  No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments about Speyside Way Walking Holiday :
Walk was quiet and enjoyable, hardly any other walkers (in July!). The paths were sometimes quite monotonous (e.g. roads, forest roads), especially as the river was often out of sight. Some of the places we stayed in were great! Will definitely return to the area.

A good tour if you like Whiskey and are not looking for something exciting!

A Pastoral Walk

Comments about Speyside Way Walking Holiday :
The Speyside was a fine walk very peaceful and relaxing with enough distances each day to give one a sense of accomplishment.
The bag transportation was flawless and the B&B’s excellent. The hotel at Fochabers was below average but likely a result of the choice available.
A single walker might find it lonesome as there was very little traffic. The scenery is pastoral but not jaw dropping as in cliffs and coast lines.
The Speyside walking guide has a 13 mile day from Ballindaloch to Grantown. The B&B owner said it was a definite 15 mile, and more difficult than the quide book would suggest. If a day off was needed this would be the leg to rest. Everyone in our group was pleased with the experience

The guest houses chosen were lovely, especially the Cragganmore House. We would recommend the setting, bath and of course food to any walker. Tony and Helen were the best hosts, please use them for all foodies
