Comments about Trossachs Trail :
We’ve used Macs Adventures before and enjoyed ourselves so much we decided to do it again. With the four of us being very different ages and with a wide range of fitness levels, I was looking for something that we could all tackle and enjoy.

The Trossochs Trail fulfilled all of our expectations, the walking was strenuous enough to challenge us without leaving us exhausted. The weather was perfect (nope, I don’t know how that happened) and each day of walking had its differences and interests.

The Trossochs may lack the grandeur of the highlands, but provides a perfect peaceful walking holiday that will live in the memory for a long time and hasn’t so hard on the knees.

Occasionally some of the references on the instructions were incorrect e.g signs/gates listed as landmarks no longer existed.

Lovely walk in solitary countryside

Comments about Trossachs Trail :
The Trossachs trail offers a beautiful walk through contrasting countryside. It’s not for those seeking a social experience – the WHW fits the bill for that – being much more a solitary walk. We sawe no-one going our way throughout the 4 days!

The sections through the Queen Elizabeth Woodland and the hillwalk to Balquidder are superb and quite challenging.

As usual the accommodation was first class. A warm welcome was on offer at each overnight stop, the rooms were large and well equipped and the breakfasts fantastic. The Forth Inn breakfast is exceptional!

At Balquidder, do stop at the Library tearoom for the best scones in the world.

The final day’s walking is a little dull, truth to tell, which makes it a bit of a slog and care is needed to evade the cyclists. If there was a high level alternative, we would have relished it.

Comments about Trossachs Trail :
Overall it was a different exprerience. I had never been on a walking trip before. At times I did feel a bit doubtful on whether I was on the right track, as I was walking on my own. However, I always managed to arrive at the desired destination and never got lost. It is important that one sticks to the main route and ask who ever comes your way whether you are in the right direction if you’re in doubt. I must say that the surrounding countryside was really tranquil and varied too. When walking through forest vehicle tracks all one hears is the wind rustling through the trees, birds chirping and water running into small streams. The views of the lochs and lochans are amazing. The moorland is also quite spectacular, especially with all the sheep around. It’s also a great expreience to get to know the local people. The Scottish people are very friendly. They are always ready to help.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea if MacsAdventures were to restart group walks, as it would be good for first time solo travellers who wish to carry out a walking holiday, to join them.

A great short break just the right mileage per day to enjoy the scenery, with the option time to visit places off the trail. My second trip with Macs Adventure with the promise of more to come. Accomodation was once again first class.
