Comments about Windermere Way Walking Holiday :
The scenery on this walk was wonderful: lake views, rugged hill climbs to various viewing points, enchanted forests, green hilly farms with rock fences, pretty stone houses and interesting sheep. The B&B accommodation was very comfortable, with excellent breakfasts. [...]We found the walk strenuous and I found it helpful to have walking poles for the rough and downhill sections. We used buses to get to some of our starting points rather than ferries, as this was cheaper and/or quicker at times. I suggest it would be helpful to include ferry and bus timetables, in the pack with the maps.We found the track notes to be vague in places, resulting in us becoming lost on 3 occasions. Saying “this path is not much in evidence on the ground” is not all that helpful! We did manage to get to our destination, though not always by the correct way. Getting lost made our walking days longer, as we had to spend an extra hour or two finding our way, so allow plenty of time for your walk.We included an extra day and having a rest day was good, as we could do some sightseeing and other activities in the area on that day.

Very good Guest Houses….. and breakfasts !
We felt that the 12 and 14 mile walks were a little too challenging ( for 60 year ‘olds’)….. a little more than ” moderate”!
