New Walking Holiday in Tenerife
Macs Adventure is proud to announce the launch of a fabulous new walking holiday in Tenerife. Tenerife, located in the Canary Islands, is the perfect year round walking destination. Average maximums range from mid teens in the winter to mid twenties in the summer. For more details view climate guide. This makes Tenerife an especially good winter walking destination as it is only a four hour flight from the gloomy UK winter.   Tenerife is an island of contrasts, which are best discovered on foot. During your walking holiday, you will explore woods of aromatic bay laurel trees, vast deserts with bizarre basalt formations, humid areas with exuberant vegetation, colourful volcanic slopes, and of course the highest of all Spanish peaks: El Teide. And that is just the walking! Other highlights of Tenerife include white sandy beaches,  historic towns and villages and the regular festivals, which really bring the place alive. Our Walking in Tenerife Holiday includes 7 nights accommodation in charming hotels of character, detailed route notes and maps and emergency support. So you can relax and enjoy the very best walking in Tenerife whilst we take care of all the details. We wanted to highlight the very best of the island so you will stay at four different locations around the island and will need a rental car to travel between the hotels and access the walks. This walking tour is graded Moderate to Strenuous. Walks of 4 to 7 hrs a day, some long ascents and descents (max of 1000m in ascent, 1200m in descent) and although there are some options for easier alternate routes it is best suited to enthusiastic walkers who enjoy a good long day on the trail. The walks follow rural tracks, both surfaced and un-surfaced, footpaths and animal trails. You may encounter some loose rock, or muddy / slippery sections in wet weather. Ascents and descents can be steep and footpaths rough. The higher areas may be covered with snow during early spring and weather conditions up high may be totally different from those experienced in the valleys, so always take extra warm clothing with you. From June till September you should protect yourself against sun and heat. You should be a regular walker and have a good level of walking fitness to get the most from this holiday. If a week of walking on Tenerife is not enough this holiday combines especially well with our Walking on La Gomera holiday, which is only a short ferry ride and features even more fantastic walking and a slower pace of life. The official tourist board website has plenty more information on Tenerife and an especially good guide to some of the best walks on Tenerife.
