Walking in Tenerife

Tenerife, the largest, most varied and popular of the Canary Islands and is a perfect year-round walking destination. Walk through moonscapes of intense volcanic colour, lush forests filled with exotic vegetation and dramatic coastal landscapes.

Woods of aromatic bay laurel trees, vast deserts with bizarre basalt formations, humid areas with exuberant vegetation, colourful volcanic slopes, and of course the highest of all Spanish peaks: El Teide.

This is a self drive walking holiday based at four locations throughout the island. Varied and rewarding walking is combined with four hand picked hotels of authentic character. To get the most from Tenerife you will travel around the island by rental car (must be booked separately).

Tenerife offers fabulous walking in dramatic and varied landscapes, year round sunshine, a rich cultural heritage and delicious food and drink. Spend a week walking amongst the volcanoes of Tenerife and discover what makes this island so special.

Highlights:

  • Bizarre basalt formations, colourful deserts and a stunning coast line
  • Charming hotels of character in historic towns
  • The unique atmosphere of the Parador Cañadas del Teide, at the foot of Spain's highest peak (3718 m)
  • Exuberant and exotic vegetation such as the Dragon Blood tree
  • Beautiful historical villages such as Garachico and La Orotova
