Areas of expertise: Developing adventures in Scotland
I joined the Macs Adventure team as an Operations Specialist in February 2016. I was brought up by parents who made the most of being outdoors, and who encouraged me to travel all over Scotland and Europe practically since I could walk for hiking, rock climbing, cycle touring, and skiing. Because of my love of outdoor sports, and world travel the job at Macs seemed perfect for me.
While at university in St Andrews I studied geology, and organised trips as a member of the mountaineering club committee. It was here that I really developed a passion for rock climbing. I was also lucky enough to go on various fieldtrips in Spain, Switzerland, Italy, and all over Scotland as part of my degree. So far Italy is my favourite country in Europe for exploring towns, relaxing, and enjoying good food and coffee.
Outside of Europe I have travelled to British Columbia & Alberta, Canada, the Philippines for charity work, and most recently Morocco to ice climb in the High Atlas and explore the souks of Marrakech. Scotland has some spectacular climbing of which I have only scratched the surface (the Cuillin Ridge on Skye, the Cairngorms, and Glencoe), but I am always planning new climbing trips, and currently have my sights set on some “hot rock” climbing in Sicily, and a more mountaineering orientated trip in Patagonia.
