Self Guided Walking Holidays & Cycling Holidays

Areas of expertise: Making the website run smoothly

My love for the outdoors came from holidays around Scotland, rifling through handfuls of pebbles on the beaches of Iona or climbing hills on Arran. I have tried to find somewhere as beautiful as Scotland, and I have come close, but it always remains the most perfect place.

My first real travelling experience was Interrailing around Europe after leaving school. No itinerary, no agenda and no money led to the template for many of my favourite adventures. But it was riding those trains that I discovered the deep joy of travelling. While the places we went each had their own unique beauty, it was the people I met that changed everything for me.

Exchanging stories in wood-walled guard vans, windows condensed through volume of chat, there really is no better experience.

This led to travels wherever I could, always exploring, more often than not, getting lost.

After time spent all over Europe, South East Asia, North and South America and Southern Africa, I realised that talking to people about travel was something I could get paid to do, so joined the travel industry. After a few years, I was lucky enough to find Macs Adventure and felt I had found my travel home.

Aside from travel and work, my life consists of beautiful family, snowboarding, film-making, being daft on a bike and pretty much trying to enjoy every second I have.
