Richard Turnbull: Sales Manager
Areas of expertise: Keeping the Sales team on track
The world is such a big wonderful place. It’s full of languages, beauty, culture and surprises. I have been trying for many years to see as much of it as possible. This is my goal, and will continue to be, for many years to come. During these travels I have used my home town of Glasgow as a base.
I actually never started out in travel. It was an interest before it became a passion. In my previous life I studied a science based course. After deciding that I did not want to have a life in labs, playing around with test tubes and pipettes, I thought I would try another track. The travel bug started when I went to see Chichen Itza, in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. I absolutely loved the history, stories and sights that came out of this trip. I quickly decided to start travelling the world and see all I could. I ventured to the furthest and most unusual places possible. I came home and told my friends of the wonders I had seen and they encouraged me towards working in travel. I did with enthusiasm and I have not looked back. I have since travelled to all 7 continents and over 50 countries and taken 4 round the world adventures.
I was very fortunate to have joined Macs Adventures in November 2016 as a Sales and Operations Manager for Europe & Worldwide. I work alongside very knowledgeable and experienced Destination and Adventure Specialists, who arrange amazing trips for our very adventurous clients. Each member of the team deliver excellent customer service while expanding their own skills, and seeing the world for themselves.
Outside of work, I try and remain active as much as possible. I enjoying running, going to the gym and taking part in as many outdoor pursuits as I can. Travelling is still a main part of my life.
I am now focusing my travels in Europe, rather than further afield. There are so many unique and intriguing countries to visit, with Scotland being one of them. Each one is as different as the next and right on my door step. Next on my list is a bike and boat trip to Croatia, with an added Montenegro side trip. I also want to venture into some remote parts of Greece. The big bucket list destination would be the Silk Road but that won’t be anytime soon.
