Samantha Tod: D&A Operations Specialist
Areas of expertise: Europe Operations
I joined Macs Adventure as a Destinations & Adventure Operations Specialist in July 2017. Growing up in the small village of Comrie in Perthshire, my love of adventure and the outdoors began with exploring the surrounding countryside and family holidays to the West coast which involved a lot of walking, fishing in hill lochs and picnics (the midges didn’t manage to deter us!).
Whilst growing up I was lucky enough to enjoy family holidays to European destinations including France, Switzerland and Italy and further afield destinations including Canada and Australia. Experiencing these countries and their different cultures started off my love of travel and my desire to explore different parts of the world, leading me to graduate with an Honours degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. During summer breaks, I spent time working in the outdoors of Switzerland and France, immersing myself in their culture (particularly their love of cheese) and attempting to improve my knowledge of the French language.
After graduating, I set off to the other side of the world and spent time working on a vineyard in rural Australia training baby vines, sightseeing the local wildlife and exploring the lively city of Melbourne. After spending time here, I decided to experience a culture completely out of my comfort zone and set off to South East Asia! I spent an incredible 4 months travelling around Bali, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.
Now back in Scotland, I’m very excited to be part of the Macs Adventure team and help to organise adventures for our customers! Coming from a family with a love of the outdoors, in my free time, I will either be found up North exploring the Scottish countryside, spending time with family or attempting to climb up a mountain to bag as many Munro’s as possible!
