Grade & Terrain
This tour is graded easy to moderate. Cycling in Denmark is very enjoyable due to the fact that cyclists are generally given priority over traffic. The majority of the cycling will be on dedicated cycle lanes or bike paths. You will also cycle on country lanes and roads which will be shared with other road users. Please always be mindful of other cyclists, pedestrians and vehicles at all times.
You will be provided with detailed maps and route descriptions with notes on places of interest together with the our easy to use Macs Adventure navigation app which means you easily follow your route
Accommodation Information
During this trip you will spend 5 nights in boutique and spa hotels. We carefully select bike friendly hotels selected for their hospitality and spa facilities. Examples of the typical accommodation we use on this tour are listed below.
Single Rooms & Solo Cyclists
If you're travelling with friends or family but prefer your own room, single rooms are subject to availability and a supplementary payment. This trip is also available to solo cyclists, also subject to a supplementary payment.
Meals
5 breakfasts are included. Breakfasts usually consists of breads, fruits, yogurts, cheeses, meats and granola. Danish breakfasts also include local, traditional pastries! If you have special dietary requirements do let us know at the time of booking. Lunches and dinners are not included but you will find suggestions in your route notes of local places to dine.
A real highlights of this journey is Denmark's food scene. Leading the charge is Noma, voted the world’s best restaurant between 2010-12 and again in 2014. Chefs here recreate lost traditional Danish techniques such as curing, pickling and smoking. Beyond the elaborate gastronomic experiences available in Copenhagen, Danish cafes serve up fresh local seafood, such as Smørrebrød (open shrimp sandwiches) rounded off with lip-smackingly good pastries and cakes.

Getting to the Start
For general travel planning, we recommend the helpful site www.rome2rio.com
By Air
Copenhagen International Airport has extensive connections to major cities across the UK, USA and mainland Europe. From the airport, it is an easy 20-minute train journey from the arrival terminal to the central station at Copenhagen. From central station, the range of hotels we use in Copenhagen are usually within a 10-20 minutes taxi journey of the station. Alternatively, you may like to take a taxi direct from the airport. The 20-minute journey from the airport to central Copenhagen usually costs around US$45 or £35 but again, depends on traffic.
Driving
If you are driving and/or are bringing your own bikes, please let us know at the time of booking. Long term secure parking in Copenhagen can incur significant charges. One of the more cost-effective long-term parking solutions would be Copenhagen Airport.
Getting from the End
Gilleleje train station has regular services that connect through to Copenhagen. Journey time is around 70 minutes, with a change of services in Hillerod. Tickets can be bought on the day oftravel or in advance at https://www.dsb.dk/en/
Services to Copenhagen are usually every 30 minutes but do check the dsb website before travelling.
Baggage Transfer
Baggage transfers are included and your bags will be moved onto your next hotel as per the itinerary. Please limit your bags to 20kg per person.General Information
The distances and ascent/descents are approximations of the recommended routes. Please be prepared by packing all necessary items, for example, proper rain gear (jacket and pants) and sun protection. Your information pack has a detailed equipment list which includes standard cycling gear, warm and waterproof clothes for the cooler months and lightweight clothing for summer.
Equipment
Standard hybrid bikes are available to rent. Each bike comes with a rear pannier bag, basic repair kit and a lock. Helmets are included, although your own is likely to be a better fit so we reccomend bringing your own.
E-bikes are also available to hire in limited numbers so get your request for an e-bike in quickly. Please note e-bike hire is confirmed once your specialist confirms availability with the supplier, not on booking. We will of course refund the extra cost for an e-bike if it's not possible to secure one for you. The e-bikes are not able accommodate a rear pannier, so we suggest a small backpack for your daily essentials instead.
If you would prefer to bring your own bicycle please ensure it is thoroughly serviced and is an appropriate hybrid or touring bike for this tour. If you do intend to bring your own bike, please do let us know at the time of booking as extra transfer arrangements may be required for any large bike cases/boxes.
Travel Insurance
It is a requirement of booking this tour with Macs Adventure that you have suitable Travel Insurance which covers you for the activity, emergency evacuation and hospital care.
