Well, what a year 2023 has been! Over 30,000 of you embarked on a Macs Adventure, and I've loved hearing all your amazing stories and #MacsMoment experiences on our Facebook Community. Thank you for choosing us to be part of your 2023 adventures.Â
Â
So, what have we been up to?Â
We reached 20 years of Macs Adventure – a huge milestone which we celebrated by giving our entire brand and website a new makeover. We refreshed our logo, and the overall look and feel, and improved our website functionality. And we breathed fresh air into how we do things behind the scenes with the aim to make your experience smoother and more enjoyable.Â
Â
We kicked off our journey to becoming a B Corp and purpose-led business. This is definitely a marathon and not a sprint. We want to take our time to make sure we get it right. Â
We’re feeling incredibly proud about the strides we’ve taken so far. The very nature of our trips already supports local businesses and communities as well as promoting hiking and biking as a primary mode of travel.Â
We’ve joined forces with the West Highland Way and South West Coast Path associations to support them in trail maintenance. We’re working with an amazing team of experts at eCollective who are helping us measure and offset our carbon emissions. And we’ve created a responsible travel policy that highlights our commitment to making travel choices that respect people, cultures, and the environment.Â
The Hebridean Baker, aka Coinneach MacLeod, joined us as our first-ever Global Ambassador. He set out on trips to Orkney, Iceland and Ireland where he experienced all the benefits of an active adventure as well as the positive effects self-guided travel has on the communities and places we visit. We can’t wait to follow his Macs Adventures in 2024! Make sure to follow us on Instagram to keep up to date with his latest adventures and for lots of travel inspiration.Â
In November we were an official partner at Kendal Mountain Festival in the UK. Our stand, run by some of our destination specialists, attracted festival goers with giant route maps of some of our top trips, a competition, and other interactive activities. I was also speaking on the Macs Adventure stage about everything I’ve learned from 10 years of alpine adventurers – I hope to see you there next year. Â
We listened to our customer feedback to create and launch an impressive 33 new trips and 2 new destinations, and we also won a bronze award at the British Travel Awards which was voted for by you, our incredible adventurers!Â
Safe to say it’s been a busy year, but we couldn’t do any of this without you. So, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for choosing to travel with Macs Adventure. We’re excited for what 2024 will bring and we hope to see you all on the trails again.Â
Happy adventures,Â
