Discover Croatia's Dalmatian Coast including the enchanting city of Split and the islands of Brac, with its starkly attractive interior and heavenly Hvar, a place full of natural beauty. Walk trails that take you through sleepy villages and along beaches with vibrant turquoise blue seas,the most famous being Golden Horn on Brac Island. View ancient sites and excavations en route and stroll through the Plavac Mali vineyards and perhaps indulge in a glass or two of this rich and flavourful red. Explore the Stari Grad Plain and wander through trendy Hvar Town and sit in a plaza to enjoy a well-deserved plate of roasted lamb garnished with Mediterranean herbs or delicious Dalmatian fish soup.
This tour is the epitome of a relaxed walking adventure. You will take easy to moderate walks along Roman, Venetian and Greek trails to visit ancient villages, drink delicious local wine and sample the delights of this areas incredible gastromony. There will also be time to absorb the local history and culture.

Activity Level & Terrain

This tour is suitable for people that are in good physical condition and it is rated easy to moderate. Generally walking trails in Croatia tend to be quite rocky so you do have to be careful with your footing when negotiating the trails. This tour provides longer and shorter options almost every day. There are some small sections on roads where care should be taken.

Navigation

You will be provided with detailed route notes and maps. The routes are sometimes way-marked but at times they are not, so you will have to keep focused on the route notes as you walk! 

Accommodations

Stay overnight in a mix of B&B's, guesthouses, hotels and also apartment-style accommodation. During the high season, you might be booked into alternative accommodations which are not listed in the description. Any alternative accommodation will be of the same or better standard as those described.

Solo Walkers & Single Rooms

If you require single rooms within your party we would be happy to accommodate you although there is a single room supplement payable. Solo walkers are also welcome for an additional charge.

Meals

7 Breakfasts are included. The information that you receive upon arrival will give you suggestions regarding where to eat lunch and dinner each day. On some days you will need to buy picnic supplies to take on the walk with you, but again all of this information about where you can buy these supplies will be listed for you.

When To Go

Spring in Croatia is sublime and April, May and June are absolutely lovely. We do not offer the tour in July or August as it is too hot for walking then. Please note that at the very beginning and end of the season (early April and end of October) any swimming pools at accommodations may be closed and restaurant offerings may be more limited during this time. 

Getting to the Start

By Air: Split Airport is 25km outside the city. It is served from the UK by Easyjet, Jet2, Monarch, Norwegian and Croatia Airlines. Other airlines flying to Split include Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and several more. From Split Airport to Split Centre: Shuttle buses run frequently and cost about £4. A taxi takes 30 minutes and costs £30.

Getting from the End

Your tour finishes in Hvar. Take a ferry back to Split (payable locally) from where you can catch a shuttle bus to Split airport.

Luggage Transfer

Door to door baggage transfer is included in the price of your trip.  We ask you keep your baggage to a maximum of 1 bag per person (maximum weight 20kg)

General Information

The distances and descents / ascents are approximations of the recommended routes. Please be prepared by packing all necesssary items, for example, proper rain gear (jacket and pants), sun hat and sunscreen. Your information pack has a detailed equipment list which includes standard walking/ cycling gear such as good walking boots or shoes, warm and waterproof clothes for the cooler months and lightweight clothing for summer, and a day pack.

Travel Insurance

It is a requirement of booking this tour with Macs Adventure that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the activity and emergency evacuation and hospital care.

Day 1 Arrive in Split and overnight Day 2 Loop walk from Split through Marjan 9 miles / 15 km Day 3 Ferry to Brac. The Island of Brac: West Side Loop 10 miles / 16 km Day 4 Island of Brac: Lovrecina to Supetar 8 miles / 13 km Day 5 Transfer to Gazul Village. Walk to Vidova Gora then Bol. 8 miles / 13 km Day 6 Jelsa Loop via Pitve 7 miles / 11 km Day 7 Velo Grablje to Milna to Hvar Town 7 miles / 12 km Day 8 Onward Travel
