Activity Level & Terrain
This trip is graded as strenuous due to the fact that you are climbing to a fairly high altitude. At 4167m, Mt Toubkal is high enough for some people to experience altitude sickness, although unfortunately it is impossible to predict who will suffer from it. Physical fitness, prior experience at altitude and stamina do not guarantee making the summit, but these will all help and make the experience more enjoyable. The descent in particular is quite difficult with long sections on scree slopes. Participants should have some experience of walking in mountain areas before undertaking this trip.
Navigation
During your walks in the mountains, you will be accompanied by your own qualified mountain guide so you do not need to worry about navigating by yourself.
Accommodations
Your trip includes 2 nights in a riad in Marrakech, 1 night in dorm accommodation in a mountain hut with shared toilets, and 3 nights in a deluxe mountain hotel, the Kasbah du Toubkal.
Your room in the Riad in Marrakech and at the Kasbah du Toubkal will have ensuite facilities.
It is possible to upgrade to a boutique riad in Marrakech for a supplement.
The Neltner Hut is a modern mountain hut. This means sleeping in bunk bedded communal rooms. Usually the Kasbah du Toubkal is able to secure a separate room for their group but this is not guaranteed. There are basic toilet facilities "a la Turk" which are flushed by using a bucket filled from a tap. There are very cold showers and sometimes hot ones.
Meals
This trip is offered on a bed and breakfast basis in Marrakech, and a full board basis whilst in the mountains (mountain hotel and lodge).
Berber hospitality is renowned and when you visit you will see exactly why. In the Atlas mountains you will experience mouth watering, fragrant Berber dishes and each night you will be served 3 courses of traditional Berber cuisine. You can expect to feast on slow cooked tagines filled with meat and dried fruits, couscous dishes and home made breads accompanied with sweet mint tea, also known as Berber Whisky. Desserts tend to revolve around the fruit in season; indulge in juicy ripe pomegranates, apples, oranges and figs drizzled with locally produced honey.

If you require single rooms within your party we would be happy to accommodate you although there is a single room supplement payable. Unfortunately this holiday is not available for solo walkers.
