Day 1: Arrive Bordeaux and overnight

Arrive in the beautiful city of Bordeaux, long known as “La Belle au Bois Dormant”, (Sleeping Beauty) and set along the banks of the Garonne River. It is the largest urban UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you should take the time to see why, by discovering its stunning architecture, the Grand Theatre, St Andrew’s Cathedral, and the Place des Quinconces.

Bordeaux is the centre of the wine region and there are many wonderful restaurants in the heart of the city where you can try the local cuisine and an award-winning glass of cabernet sauvignon.

Day 2: Bordeaux to Entre-deux-Mers

Leave Bordeaux by way of a trail that runs along the Garonne River and its beautiful landscaped quays. You’ll then follow a greenway trail, winding through the hillsides of the Entre-deux-Mers, a sub-wine region of Bordeaux and which literally translated means “Between Two Seas”.

Your route then takes you through the magnificent fortified and walled towns of Creon and Sauveterre de Guyenne and on small roads surrounded by vineyards.

Day 4: Through the Garonne Valley

Your cycle tour continues through the rich valley of the Garonne and along trails through local orchards. This very scenic route passes through Le Mas d'Agen and many other pretty small towns.

Today is a highlight of your week on two wheels as you cycle in the shade of canal side plane trees and discover great sites; the canal bridge on the Baise, the aqueduct of Agen Auvillar, Lake Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave and finally Moissac, which is dominated by its 12th century Abbey Church of St Pierre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 6: Moissac to Toulouse

All along your route beside the Canal de Garonne, are appealing rural villages in Tarnet-Garonne and they all are dominated by churches built in the Gothic style of Toulouse. En route visit Montech, prized for its marina. This peaceful section, gets a bit busier as you enter Toulouse but provides access to the heart of the city.

Make sure you have plenty of time to visit Toulouse's amazing sights such as the famous Place du Capitole. It is a city with distinctive architecture, and nicknamed the "La Ville Rose" because of the colour of the clay brick used to build its houses.
