Activity Level & Terrain
This trip is graded ‘easy-moderate’ with average daily distance being 14km. The walking is mostly flat, and two rest days are included. While there are a few hills, these are short and nothing too strenuous. The trails are a combination of tarmac country roads, dirt trails and woodland trails. This tour is suitable for walkers with good physical fitness.Navigation

Stay 3 nights in 4* standard hotels, 3 nights in Châteaux hotels and 1 night in a 4* standard guesthouse. In the itinerary you will find an example of the accommodation we use on this trip. All accommodation is subject to availability and therefore alternatives of an equal standard may be offered.

Meals
Breakfasts are included each day, as well as 1 dinner in an award winning gastronomic restaurant in Beaune (on day 4 or 5 depending on availaiblity). This is usually at Loiseau des Vignes, one of the Michelin recommend restaurants owned by famous French chef, bernard Loiseau.
On all other nights dinner can be purchased in each town with several options being available in each town- you will be spoilt for choice! Beaune is home to two award winning restaurants and Dijon has several - so why not treat yourself to the ultimate gastronomic experience?
Packed lunch items can be bought locally from supermarkets or the local boulangerie.

When To Go
This tour is available from mid-May to mid-October. Any time within this period is ideal for walking. The grape harvest tends to take place the last week of September (variable) so please note that the vineyards will be busy during this time, with a lot of activity going on. This is an interesting time to be in the area, but be aware that there will be more vehicles on the small country roads than normal.Getting to the Start
Fly: into Paris Charles de Gaulle, Orly or Beauvais airports. Take a train or bus from the airport to the city centre and from the centre (Gare de Lyon) take a direct TGV train to Dijon (approx. 1 hour 40 mins). Train times and details can be found at www.sncf.com.
You could also fly into Lyon or Geneva and take the train from there (3 hours/3 hours 30 mins)
Train: Eurostar from London St-Pancras International to Paris (Gard du Nord). Change here and travel to Paris Gare de Lyon (by RER) From Gare de Lyon, take a direct TGV train to Dijon Ville (approx. 1 hour 40 mins). The total journey time is approx. 5 hours and the whole trip can be booked at www.eurostar.com.Drive: From Folkestone, take the Eurotunnel shuttle to Calais, and continue driving from here. From Calais, it is about a 5 hour drive to Dijon. Booking and more info can be found at www.eurotunnel.com
Drive and Ferry: Drive to Dover and take the ferry to Calais (approx. 1 hour 15 mins crossing). Then drive onto Dijon (approx. 5 hours drive). Ferry info and booking can be found at www.poferries.com
Getting from the End
On day 7, you will be transferred from your hotel in Meursault to Beaune train station. From here you can take a train back to Dijon (approx. 30 mins). Train details can be found at www.voyages-sncf.com. From Dijon you can take a TGV train to many locations in France and Europe, or continue home via one of the methods mentioned in the ‘Getting to’ section.General Information
Wine Tour
We will arrange a guided wine tour of the Bernard Rion vineyard followed by a visit to the winery and its cellar. You will sample a selection of 5 wines grown in the area, including the famous Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.
