Pedal along the world-renowned Cabot Trail, known for its peaceful, rolling coastal roads: a road cyclist’s dream. Follow the loop all the way around remote Cape Breton Island, and select from a shorter or longer ride each day with the assistance of your own support van. Enjoy a fantastic mix of rolling forests and expansive ocean views as you make your way through Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and keep an eye out for wildlife such as whales! In the evenings, refuel with fresh seafood and overnight in small coastal towns.
This trip is rated moderate. On most days you will have the choice of a longer or shorter ride. Riders should be accustomed to sharing the road with traffic.

Activity Level & Terrain

This trip is rated as moderate. There are two days with climbs of about 400m. Riding surface is almost entirely paved and traffic sharing roads with a few short unpaved, gravel sections.


One of the highlights of this tour is the high standard of accommodation. You will stay in carefully selected 3* small hotels. Your room will always have an ensuite or private bathroom. A delicious breakfast is also included. 

Single Rooms

If you require single rooms within your party we will always try and accommodate you subject to availability. A single supplement is payable. This trip is not available to solo cyclists.


A hearty breakfast is included each morning. Lunches and dinners are not included so you are free to choose from the surrounding options. Dinner is available either at your accommodation or at nearby restaurants.

When To Go

This trip is available between June 15th to October 20th. You can start on any date subject to availability. Nova Scotia is a popular destination with limited lodging capacity, so it is best to book as far in advance as you are able. The best months to visit are anytime between June and October!

Your trip starts and ends in Halifax. You can fly into Halifax Stanfield International Airport

Luggage Transfer

Baggage transfer is included in the cost of your holiday. We ask you to limit your luggage to one bag of up to 20 kg per person.


Our pre-departure information pack has detailed advice on what to bring. Please be prepared by packing all necessary items, including rain gear, sunscreen, and appropriate cycling clothing, as the weather can vary greatly. If you have any questions, we would be happy to share our tips and advice.  Please limit your baggage to 1 bag per person of no more than 50 lbs / 20 kg. Your bag will be transported between your inns.

Bike Rental

Hire of a Trek FX2 Hybrid bike, helmet, lock,  waterproof bag, flat repair kit, water bottle cage, and first aid kit are included in the trip cost. Please supply us with your height for your bicycle rental so we can make sure your bike is the perfect fit. E-bikes are also available should you want a little extra assistance to help you along the way. We can also upgrade you to a Road Bike if you prefer. These are subject to availability and require a supplementary payment.

Travel Insurance

It is a requirement of booking this tour with Macs Adventure that you have suitable travel insurance that covers you for the activity and emergency evacuation and hospital care.
