Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Corfu and overnight in MessonghiUpon arrival you will be transferred (10 mins) to your first accommodation in Messonghi, a village on the eastern side of Corfu.
Messonghi is a quiet former fishing village which boasts a lovely sandy beach and relaxed atmosphere. Here is where you will find the Corfu Archeaological Museum which houses objects from the Paleolithic era to Roman times.
This is a family-run property since 1979. It is built by the sea and is located in the heart of Messonghi, a picturesque fishing village only 19Km south from Corfu town.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the start of your walk on Issos Beach (50 mins) on the western side of the island adjacent to Korission Lagoon, a haven for wildlife and scenes from the James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only" were shot here! You can see egrets, terrapins and kingfishers if you stay silent. Walk uphill from the lake alongside olive groves and vineyards before arriving in the village of Chlomatiana where there is a nice restaurant ‘Archontiko’ from which you have terrific views over the sea. After lunch follow a pleasant trail that descends to the east coast and all the way back to Messonghi

This is a family-run property since 1979. It is built by the sea and is located in the heart of Messonghi, a picturesque fishing village only 19Km south from Corfu town.
This morning after breakfast take the bus from Messonghi to the coastal town of Benitses (approx 20 minutes). From here you ascend on a trail through a cool and shady forested area. Then arrive at an historic irrigation waterworks dating back to the 19th century built by the British. Walk through lush olive groves before ascending into the village Agioi Deka, where you can top up your water bottle with fresh spring water. Via rural country roads descend to Pikantika and Achilleio, two picturesque villages. A steep ascent via a beautiful, romantic trail leads you to the lovely view point at the church of Agia Kyriaki. From here you descend steeply through dense forest to Benitses. You may relax in one of the numerous cafes in the old town square before taking the bus back to Messonghi.

The Rossis Beach Hotel is a traditional family-run property that respects Greek heritage, cuisine and culture. It is situated right next to the sea and is located in the heart of Messonghi, a picturesque fishing village. Their priority is making guests feel comfortable with the assurance that they will enjoy every single moment of their stay.
A transfer to Stroggili bring you to the beginning of your walk on the Corfu Trail. A pleasant footpath takes you onto the slopes of Agioi Deka, the second highest peak of Corfu (676m). Follow historic mule tracks past traditional mountain villages and a beautiful monastery. Once you reach Sinarades, a pleasant village, you catch a bus from here to Corfu Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site made up by a beguiling mix of Greek, English, Venetian and Italian architecture all dominated by the imposing 16th-century fortress.

The Bella Venezia is housed in a restored neo-calssical mansion and is an oasis of calm located in the heart of Corfu Town. It has been lovingly renovated with all modern facilities.
Today offers the chance to fully explore the ancient centre of Corfu Town with its amazing history and beautiful architecture. Discover the narrow cobbled and charming streets, all lined with delightful shops and the offering the opportunity to dine al fresco. There are also numerous beautiful churches and a really excellent archaeological museum which we heartily encourage you to viist. These attributes all combine to make Corfu Town a delight for all the senses.

From your hotel in Corfu town you will be transferred to Rekini, where you begin your walk along the foot of the Pantokrator Mountains in Northern Corfu. Following the Corfu Trail once more, you walk through an area of Corfu that time seems to have forgotten. Quiet cobbled trails, sleepy villages like Sokraki, famous for its gingerbeer, rural Corfu at its very best! Those walking in spring will be spoilt by the display of orchids on the slopes of Mount Pantokrator. The walk ends in Spartyllas, where there are several café’s. Sipping a drink you may see the deep blue sea and Albania on the horizon. From Spartyllas a taxi will pick you up and take you to Barbati.

Pantokrator Hotel is built in the typically Mediterranean architectural style where the amphitheatrically setting of room blocks provide a village-style environment and stunning views. The 102 rooms are boutique-style each with its own unique character. The interior decoration makes them each one of a kind while large balconies with their stunning views over the Ionian Sea, Corfu town, the Greek mainland and the Albanian coastline ensure a tranquil carefree stay.
Today’s finale takes us to the saddle of Mount Pantokrator for stunning views of the nearby Albanian mountains. Picturesque ancient villages, including the almost abandoned Old Perithia, line our way on our descent to the tip of Corfu’s northern coast, and the very end of the Corfu Trail.

Is it for me?This walking tour on Corfu will appeal to people who love sunshine, great views and want to explore the more remote parts of this Ionian Island. Some of the walks are on the long-distance path The Corfu Trail. The rating for the walks range from easy to moderate but the overall rating is moderate due to some fairly significant elevation gains and losses, but the distances are very manageable. Get ready for walks through olive groves, remote and traditional Greek villages, past a coastal lagoon and to sandy coves.

Solo Travellers, Families with Teens
The minimum age for this tour is: 16 Years
This tour combines a mix of walks which are graded anywhere from easy to moderate. However it is graded moderate overall as there are some steep ascents and descents. The walks follow a mixture of old mule tracks, gravel roads, footpaths and minor roads.
On this 7-night tour you will stay in a combination of properties, from a 3* hotel in Messonghi, which is close to the beach, to a 3* hotel in the centre of Corfu Town and a hotel in Barbati in a quiet area close to the sea. The rooms that you will stay in are all rated as superior and aside from the central one in Corfu Town will have sea views. All rooms have private facilities and almost always they will have a balcony or a terrace.
Alternate Accommodation
In most cases you will stay in the standard accommodation that we offer on this trip. However, in particularly busy times of year or in the off-season when some of the standard hotels are not yet open an alternative hotel maybe necessary. However, we will always try to maintain the same standards of quality and the walks will never be affected.
Single Rooms & Solo Walkers
If you require single rooms within your party we would be happy to accommodate you although there is a single room supplement payable. This tour is available for solo walkers also with an additional supplement.
As some of the walks on the long-distance route, the Corfu Trail, these will be intermittently waymarked. Some of the routes will not be waymarked. However on this tour we provide navigation in the Macs Adventure Smartphone App which you can download for use off-line. See your information pack on how to do this. You will need to use the app to navigate on this tour as we do not provide turn by turn directions. If you simply follow the little blue line (you are the dot) this will ensure that you won't get lost.

This walk is available to start any day of the week in April, May, June, September and October. Please note that at the very beginning and end of the season (early April and end of October) any swimming pools at accommodations may be closed and restaurant offerings may be more limited during this time.
The climate of Corfu, a Greek island in the Ionian Sea, is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers. The daily average temperature ranges from 9.5 °C in January to 27 °C (80.5 °F) in August.The spring and autumn are glorious months to visit with the hillsides carpeted with wildflowers in the spring and in the autumn it will be less busy and clear of many tourists.
A large number of airlines fly direct to Corfu Airport from the UK and other European destinations. These include Easyjet and Jet2 and numerous charter airlines. If coming from outside Europe you will need to connect via Athens or other major gateways, such as London, Frankfurt and Zurich.
Airport transfers to your first accommodation and from your last accommodation to Corfu Airport are included. Please give us your flight arrival and departure details as soon as possible so we can make those plans for you in good time.
The distances and ascent/descents are approximations of the recommended routes. Please be prepared by packing all necessary items, for example, proper rain gear (jacket and pants), sun hat, sunscreen. Your information pack has a detailed equipment list which includes standard walking gear such as good walking boots or shoes, warm and waterproof clothes for the cooler months and lightweight clothing for summer, and a day pack.

It is a requirement of booking this tour with Macs Adventure that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the activity and emergency evacuation and hospital care.
The walking is graded moderate and on most days will be walking for between 3.5 and 6 hours each day. You will enjoy the holiday more if you already enjoy an active lifestyle and have a good level of walking fitness. There are some steep ascents and descents.
Corfu Airport. Once you have flown into the airport, an included transfer brings you to your first accommodation and this is also included upon departure.
We suggest you book as soon as your plans are finalised as Corfu is very popular.
You will need good walking shoes/boots, comfortable walking clothes, waterproof jacket and trousers, a daypack, warm clothing in the early/late part of the year and hats etc during the summer. We supply a detailed packing list with your information pack.
April, May, June, September and October are the best time to walk in the Greek Islands as July and August are too hot for most people.
