Curl up indoors with a great outdoors DVD

With the UK again being blasted by wintry conditions (isn’t it suppose to be Spring?!), you could simply out your feet up and watch a few outdoors inspired DVDs. We think this sounds like an excellent idea!

Gore-Tex Scottish National Trail on DVD

The festive period saw the showing of two one-hour BBC Scotland television programmes called Scotland End to End. These wonderfully scenic and atmospheric programmes have now been released on DVD. Scottish walker, writer and presenter Cameron McNeish walks the 470-mile Gore-Tex Scottish National Trail, which follows and links up many of Scotland’s existing trails and rights of way to create a world-class long-distance walking route. The Gore-Tex Scottish National Trail showcases some of the most stunning Scottish landscapes and takes walkers on a fascinating historical journey. The route passes  places that saw battles and raids and reveals the growth of industrialisation. Wildlife is also a major attraction of the official End to End route that starts in Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders and finishes in Cape Wrath, in the far north-west of Scotland.

Extraordinary Climbs

Dave Macleod is a legend – and his latest DVD will leave you with your heart in your mouth on several occasions. One of the world’s leading rock climbers, is filmed making a number of amazing climbs. In the First Great Climb, Dave, a Scot, pays tribute to three almost forgotten men. In 1867, the trio attempted a sea crossing to the uninhabited Hebridean island of Handa, off the west coast of Sutherland in north-west Scotland, to climb an isolated pillar of rock, the Great Stac. In Climbing – No Limits! Dave and friend Alan Cassidy travel to North Yorkshire and Derbyshire to attempt two impressive first ascents. One is deep underground, in Jingling Pot, and the other is a sport climb at the entrance of Perak Cavern.

Scotland Coast to Coast DVD

Alfred Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk across the north of England has become one of the most popular UK long-distance routes in the UK. Mirroring this idea, writer and broadcaster Cameron McNeish came up with a walk across Scotland from the North Sea beach at Aberdeen to the wilds of Knoydart. On the way, McNeish also climbs Mount Keen, Scotland's most easterly Munro, and Ladhar Bheinn, the most westerly Munro. Other highlights include the traverse of the Lairig Ghru.
