Grandfather and grand-daughter walk the Great Glen Way to raise £1600

Great Glen Way colin chapman granddaughterColin Chapman decided to walk 73 miles of the Great Glen Way with Macs Adventure in April 2013 (73 miles to correspond with the fact that he is in his 73rd year!). Colin’s companion on the walk was his grand-daughter Megan, who is currently completing her final year at Fortrose Academy, and intends to go on to study medicine. The intrepid pair had a fantastic purpose to their walk: Megan has been accepted to spend her Gap-Year working in an Eye hospital in Hyderabad, India, under the auspices of the Project Trust charity organisation. The Project Trust is an educational charity founded in 1967 on the Hebridean Island of Coll.  The Trust has sent 6000 volunteers overseas during the last 45 years. Megan’s fundraising target was £5400, and through sponsorship of her walk on the Great Glen Way with her grandfather, she raised £1600 towards that target. Megan’s family are proud and delighted that she has now reached her target, and Macs Adventure wish her all the best for her year volunteering in India, we hope it will be a fantastic and rewarding experience. Following in the footsteps of Robert the Bruce, who used the trail to covertly travel north, Megan and her Grandfather walked the Great Glen Way from Fort William to Inverness in 5 days, combining their family walking trip with raising the funds for Megan to carry out valuable volunteer work. Colin described the Great Glen Way as having “varied and beautiful scenery and wildlife, many historical features and nice places to stay” More information on the Project Trust More information on the Great Glen Way
