Grade: Moderate

Distance: The full National Route is 174 miles and includes a Cumbrian coastal section. Our route is 100 miles cross country from coast to coast.

Where is it?

Starting in Bowness on Solway, the route combines exceptional views, quaint villages, rewarding climbs and their associated descents! Plus of course the great historic landmark of Hadrian's Wall itself, the 122AD Roman remains.

Why Cycle Hadrian's Cycleway?

Great northern English landscapes combine with a great northern welcome. Enjoy the sense of achievement of a challenging (but not too extreme) cycle, and in particular enjoy the welcome and the cold beers as you stop in local inns and cafes to toast your progress!

Keen cyclists can take on the challenge of a coast to coast in a shorter time, but the route appeals to a wide variety of cyclists of all level, including mixed ability groups and families looking for a trip with a difference.
