‘Sustainable travel’ and ‘Responsible travel’ are terms used quite a lot by companies, but what do they mean?
We want to make sure that we walk the talk, cut through the buzzwords, and are transparent about the steps we’re taking to make a positive impact.
At Macs, we focus on four key areas where we can make a real difference. Measuring our carbon footprint, maintaining and restoring trails, becoming B Corp certified, and advocating for low-impact self-guided travel.
Our Responsible Travel Promise
We understand the importance of ensuring that our adventures have a positive impact on the world around us. It's our way of continually improving how we do business, ensuring that everyone involved—our adventurers, suppliers, and our business—benefits.
What Responsible Travel Means to Us
At Macs, responsible travel is about more than ticking boxes- it's about honoring the rights, traditions, and cultures of the communities on our adventures. We believe in giving back to the places we visit, and that starts with engaging local suppliers. By doing so, we make sure our interactions with local communities are fair and mutually beneficial.
Discover authentic travel with Macs Adventure! We prioritise self-guided trips, partnering with local suppliers for a low-impact journey. Say goodbye to tourist traps and hello to cozy accommodations, supporting local businesses while exploring like a local. Experience real culture, solo or with friends!
Speaking of making the world better, we're also tackling our carbon footprint. We're teaming up with the amazing sustainability experts at eCollective, to carbon count all our trips. We want to be responsible for our impact and take steps to minimise it and help our travelers make informed choices.
We're proud to partner with Leave No Trace, a non-profit organization specializing in education, advocacy, and research to help build a sustainable future for the outdoors and planet.
We're donating $5 for every customer traveling along the West Highland Way and the South West Coast Path. These paths are like the lifeblood of our business, and we want to make sure they're here for generations to come.
But we know more must be done to make a difference that benefits both people and the planet. So, we’re on a mission to become a certified B Corp. To get that B Corp stamp of approval, we're making sure our practices meet the highest standards of social and environmental standards.
We're excited to unveil our 2023 impact report! For 20 years, Macs Adventure has led in crafting low-impact trips. In 2022, we aimed for B Corp certification, reflecting our commitment to people, planet, and profit. Learn about our achievements, challenges, and future goals in this report.
