Granada and Las Alpujarras

  • An Andalucian adventure, exploring Granada and traversing the Alpujarras on foot
  • Discover the Alhambra palace, with its Moorish mosaics and fountain-filled gardens
  • Sample delicious local food—dried hams and dishes with an explosion of spices
  • Walk to Trevelez, the highest village in Spain, at the foot of mighty Mulhacen
  • Overnight stays in charming rural hotels in idyllic locations surronded by mountains
Explore Granada and traverse the Alpujarras, both highlights of Spain’s Andalucia region. Surrounded by the snow-dusted peaks of the Sierra Nevada and filled with Moorish mosaics and ancient alleyways, discover Granada, also home to the Alhambra Palace. Walk high into the mountains and enjoy laid-back rural life in the Alpujarras. Follow trails through olive groves and tiny Berber style villages, former strongholds of the Spanish Moors. Sample some of the delicious local specialities including, ‘jamon serrano’ and “plato alpujarreno’, walk up to the highest village in Spain, Trevelez, and stay in Mairena, described as the “Balcony of the Alpujarras”. Stunning panoramas are constantly on view and you will rarely meet another soul while walking in these lovely valleys of eastern Andalucia.
