Adventure Your Way

The Macs Way of travel is designed to allow you to adventure your way. Our team of destination experts work with you to create your perfect adventure and customise your trip to suit your interests; whether that's a whiskey tour of Scotland, exploring Marrakech’s exotic souks, or adding an extra day to soak up the charm of Capri.

Don't be restricted by a group

You're not restricted by a group so you can start any day you want, go for as long as you want and choose the style of accommodations you want from remote mountain huts or cosy B&B's to superior rooms in elegant hotels. Choose who you travel with, escape with your partner or friends, go on that family adventure you've always talked about or take some me-time on a solo tour.

Enjoy the Freedom

Self guided travel gives you the freedom to explore the world at your own pace, no need to worry about being fit enough to keep up with a group (or others slowing you down). Enjoy an extra-long lunch soaking up the atmosphere of the piazza and sipping a glass of wine. Or reap the rewards of the breath-taking views on the more challenging route on a Tour du Mont Blanc.

Immerse in local cultures

The best thing about not hiding behind a guide is you can fully immerse in local cultures; learn something new, taste unique dishes and mingle with the locals from spontaneous traditional music sessions in a cosy pub in Ireland to bargaining with local villagers at the famous Otavalo market in Ecuador.

Feel secure in making the right choice for your precious adventure time. Don’t take our word for it, our customers describe our trips as ADVENTUROUS, EXCITING and FUN! Read our unbiased trip & service reviews to find out why.

Our Holiday Types

  •  Walking
  •  Cycling
  •  Camino & Pilgrimages

Walking Holidays

Exploring the world on foot, you can truly travel at your own pace, taking in your surroundings slowly and with purpose. The ultimate achievement as you power your way towards your goal. Choose to relax on an easy going trail, or to challenge yourself to reach a once-in-a-lifetime goal. However you decide to do a walking holiday, do it your way. The most popular routes include the West Highland Way (Scotland), the Camino de Santiago, and the Tour du Mont Blanc, or, head off the beaten track to the wild Portuguese coast or rural Japan...
Walking Holidays

Cycling Holidays

Pedal power enables you to see more of your chosen destination. Nothing beats the feeling of freedom as you cover the miles with the breeze rushing by and the sun on your back (we'll try to arrange the weather - but no promises!). Cycling holidays come in all shapes and sizes. For the seasoned cyclist, world class challenges await such as the C2C (England) or the Tour of Tuscany. For novices (or those wanting to take it easy), the ever-popular (and flat!) Danube Cycle Path offers classic inn to inn cycling or bike & boat options. Bike hire can often include e-bike options too...
Cycling Holidays

Camino & Pilgrimages

Follow in the footsteps of 100s, if not 1000s of years of purpose-driven travellers by walking or cycling an ancient pilgrimage trail. Modern pilgrims walk for many reasons, sometimes religious, sometimes spiritual, sometimes for personal growth or to enhance their understanding of the world and its people. The most famous by far is the Camino de Santiago, and specifically the Camino Frances (the French Way) across Spain from the French border, all the way to Santiago, where the world-famous cathedral marks the end of the journey of a lifetime.

Send out paper copies of the accommodation details and both maps covering the walk. Details on "dashboard" also seemed to include details from last years holiday?

A lovely trail with spectacular scenery in places. All the accommodation was very good and near the trail. Took a wrong turning once coming off Cleeve Hill. Some of the accommodation could do with having lighter duvets on the beds, or a summer duvet in the wardrobe. Luggage was collected promptly at 9am each morning. What we didn’t realise was how tiring it would be having to lug our cases up flights of stairs to our rooms at the end of each day. We were so grateful on a couple of occasions they were taken up for us and left outside our rooms.

I would recommend and buy from you again. The support the trip organiser gives is great and questions answered quickly. However I don't like your website when selecting a holiday initially. I found the layout of your previous website better and easier to use.
  • Mr John Dawson 15/06/2021
Loved the IOW coastal path, really great 5 days of walking but would possibly stretch it to 6 or 7 days and limit to a maximum 15 miles per leg. Having said that we loved every step, every minute. The arrangements and itineraries were great and everything worked like clockwork.
  • Mr Brian Stewart 15/06/2021
Well organised, great communication. Will definitely use again.

Macs Adventure managed to organise our holiday at very short notice and at some lovely hotels and guest houses. Luggage transfers worked smoothly. Information pack was very useful too.
  • Gail Ashworth 14/06/2021
Would recommend, excellent support for independent travel
  • Mrs Vicky Harris 14/06/2021
Easy to book, fabulous trip with excellent accommodation, clear instructions on the route and smooth baggage transfers. Only one bit of negative feedback, the route from the Wall down to Brampton needs changing urgently as the road is too dangerous to walk.
  • Mr James Gibson 14/06/2021
Just been on Macs Adventures west highland way trip ,was so good and well run that as soon as I was back home I have booked the same again for next year . Just give them some dates and they do all the rest ,and get back to you in few days with everything sorted
  • Andrew Redden 14/06/2021
Good communication throughout. Well organised bag collection and drop off ( a damaged bag was replaced by the baggage co. the next day). A mixed choice of accomodation, but on the whole an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately Macs can't control the weather.

I hope to use Mac Adventures again in the future. They understood when the first trip in 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic. They allowed a change of destination for 2021 and made all the necessary arrangements on our behalf. These worked out extremely well and at all stages communications were responded to quickly and efficiently. We particularly appreciated their wealth of knowledge and expertise in making bookings including accommodation, ferries and general advice related to walks. Our trip took in Iona and Mull.

This was my first experience with Macs Adventure as well as this sort of active holidays. I only started walking last year really and therefore was keen to find an adventure journey suitable for beginners too. And I am very pleased to say that with the professional help of Macs’s staff and also the Great choice of options it became one of my favourite and surely most memorable holidays ever. Of course the absolutely stunning destinations during the tour, the lovely hosts and accommodations and spot on organisation played a great part to the overall fantastic experience too.
  • Mr James Martin 13/06/2021
Done this trip 3 times with this company they are experts in the field excellent accommodation and well organised
  • Anonymous 12/06/2021
Bikes, acommodations, route maps were all excellent. Craig and his helpers for transporting luggage were always in contact and right on time. Meat Machine bike shop were so nice and helpful- over the top. 2 small issues - Tucker House did not have recharging for bikes outside but the Meat Machine kept them overnight each night and charged for us. The other 2 B & B's were able to get a cord outside for us to charge. The other small issue was before we left paperwork was a bit confusing as to when our luggage would be picked up but on arrival in Friday Harbor Craig met us and we worked out a time for each transfer the night before and all was perfect
  • Ms Teresa Ruszala 12/06/2021
I was not happy with standard of accommodation
  • Anonymous 12/06/2021
Friendly, efficient with walks well researched. Accommodation close to route and overall good standard
  • Mr Trevor Brown 11/06/2021
All well organised and everything was taken care of which made our walk very relaxing knowing we were in safe hands
  • Al D 11/06/2021
Hike in the mornings and tasting in the afternoons into evening. Highly recommended
  • Mr Jamie Mcclure 11/06/2021
Excellent service, no hitches at all. Most of the b&b’s/hotels were mainly of a good standard, however one or two of the accommodations could do with being upgraded, specifically in Balmaha and Kinlochleven. This however is no reflection on macs adventures, as we have already booked our next trip for later this year.
  • Mr James Slike 11/06/2021
Great from start to finish , choice of accommodation first class . Plus excellent people who run the B + B , great help when required and prompt
